Yep, it's something alright but what I do not know. You saw the new article as well. He is the V.P. of product development, sooooo that would lead me to believe something is in the works. Is product development seperate from SVT or under the same management team?

It makes you wonder if they don't release these photos on purpose as teasers for forums like this.

It wouldn't be the first time...
Back in the day there was the interior of the 05 shown in the background...or early mockups at least.

It is believed to be an upcoming S/E (Mach or Boss - not identified yet) Mule that has been on the streets already. The Scoop is a bolt on affair and the motor is a prototype N/A 5.4 according to the info I just got this morning.

I believe the info has a VERY high degree of accuracy based on the source, but as before, I have no way to verify it.

EDIT/UPDATE: Just as I hitting "Post Reply", my phone rang again. I was told it might (emphasis on 'might) also be one of the 4.6 S/C'd mules that were also being considered for Cobra design. The scoop was needed for those 4.6 S/C'd Mules since the hood did not have adequate clearance for the blower, according to my source. But, at least one of the 5.4 N/A mules also had a scoop.

Either way, the Sonic '05 behind Martens is NOT a stock GT with a stock 4.6 3 valve in it. It IS definitely a Mule of one form or another. He is going to try and get more info this morning about the car.

While you're at it, see if you can find out what happened to that poor pony up on the lift

This is just what I need. I was just getting the fever under control. The snow is starting to blow. The GTs and V6s aren't super rare anymore. I was accepting the fact that I won't see my car for 18-24months. Then this happened. Now I am all fired up again. I'm going to need therapy.

I opened the photograph in notepad to read the edits and captions added to it, to make sure it wasn't a photochop (normally you wouldn't suspect a newspaper of that though )

Anyhow, the watermark caption on the photo was-

"Ford product guru, Phil Martens, is seen, Friday Dec. 10, 2004, with the next generation Specialty Vehicle Team (SVT), Cobra in Dearborn. (The Detroit News/Steve Perez)"

If anyone would like to see for themself, do the same.

Also, there were some edits done, but so far as I could tell, they were all legal edits <Sharpening, brightness/contrast and saturation.>

Hey diablostang,

take a very close look at the engine in the background. It appears that someone has been drawing with the camouflage pen. Also, it sure looks like 5, yes I see 5 ports on that cylinder head.

BTW, none of your avatars were visible until I registered, is that normal?

Good sleuthing there, DiabloStang.

This is some of the first visual verification of what I've heard from my source. Excellent work!
