I think Japan is actually thin on sports cars right now. They have sporty sedans, and sporty economy cars, but not many sports cars. The RX8 and 350 are nowhere near as thoroughbred as their predecessors in the early 90's, they are much cheaper then they were however. Hopefully the next gen 7 will be a worthy successor to the 93-96 tt. The only TRUE sports cars I know of from Japan sold here right now are the Miata, the MR2, and the NSX. The 350 and 8 are OK, but I've driven both and dont feel any SOUL whatsoever from either. Im sure the new mustang, GTO, and Solstice will make a dent in their markets dramatically. The Miata and MR2 have been in a slump lately, and the NSX's price tag is rediculous for a Viper snack.
With Viper, Crossfire, Mustang, Cobra(roadster), GT, whatever SVT does with the 'stang, Corvette and Z06, GTO, and Solstice, its the Japanese that leaves consumers wanting right now. B) I think we are on the cusp of an American automobile rennasance right now, from all of the big three. This decade will make the 60's look dull.

Currently have an SVT Focus, traded in my 97 Eclipse, and can't wait for the new SVT Mustang.
Some of the Jap cars are nice. My dad has a 350, it's ok. I like the G35 coupe. But they have gone some weird directions lately; the RX8, MR2, the new Eclipse... Yuck! But to say they are all ugly! And they are selling, so someone likes them.
I agree that some of the stuff should be options, HID, traction control... I personally don't see any use for Nav in any vehicle, but that's my opinion.

Most common cars that my prospects end up buying: Accord Coupe and Sebring Convertable. Solara/Eclipse/Mini/Celica/350/RX8/miata are very common second choices that win them over. The primary word was they were the SECONDARY choice to a Stang.

Most sports cars coming out of Japan are somewhat boring right now. The new NSX is sounding somewhat promising. But the R35 GTR is the one to keep an eye on. Details are sketchy, and its still a few years off, but I think the potential is there for serious performance. Whether you call it true sports car or not, its likely to be a heck of a car.

The Acura HSC concept is quite a design...paying respect to Italy in a mesh with Japanese engineering. Still planned for a V6 though (They need to pop in the V8-V10 in the NSX line).

((Shock))-
You are correct about paying respects to Italian Design.
Reminds me of the Zonda . . .kinda.

I forgot about the 2000, With the change of torque curve and power for 04, I would put in in there as a true sports car. I just forgot since I havent seen one on the road in a LONG time.

Seems like every few topics I go into someone si trying to put everthing into its place.
ALL JAP CARS ARE UGLY
no all jap cars are not ugly. Many Jap cars look wuite good
PEOPLE WHO BUY MUSTANGS DO NOT CROSS SHOP WITH BMW
then why am I cross shopping 99m3s with 05 GT's?
A STANG DOESNT NEED NAV
I f I want NAV on my stang its my money not yours. Let us have the darn option!
A STANG DOESNT NEED HID's
Same as above
A STANG IS ALL ABOUT POWER! NOT CREATURE COMFORTS
then go drive your 71 godamnit
and the list goes on

I'm sorry, but there hasn't been styling out of Japan in a long time that I've found appealing. I don't like the 350/g35. I don't like the NSX. The only thing that I've found entertaining is the miata, and I have issues with the inherent lack of cylinders (namely the 4 it's missing).

In reference to the IMO question earlier, saying "LOL" after your own post is the equivalent of laughing at your own jokes when talking to someone in person. Honestly, who laughs after stuff they say?

My problem with Japanese cars is that they're SISSY. Sure, I think they're of high-quality, and some can smoke American V8's, but name me one Japanese car that looks manly. The sexy lines of an Infiniti G35 or Nissan 350Z are great eye candy, but I would never own one. I can't see my 6'4" frame getting in and out of any Japanese sports car. The only one I can think of that is acceptably gender-neutral is the IS300. That car is still too small, though.
This is my opinion, I welcome yours.

The body of the skyline is not bad. Its WAY better than the GTO and this is japanese. The only problem is the stock engine it comes with. That car looks like it can handle a big bad V8. But they probably dont know what that is. I give it some props on the styling, even though I am amazed to say it.
Also change that badging. :notnice:
