What would you like to see on the next mustang?
What would you like to see on the next mustang?
So what would you guys like to see on the 09 facia lift and also the redesign planned for 2012?
For the refresh, i would like to see a less retro gauge cluster on the interior. SOmething like the shelby GT500's. Maybe a more compact e-brake. I hope they integrate the rear bumper on the GT/CS' into every mustang...love those air splitters!
As for the redesign, if they can thow the rear fender bulges in, that would be great. Maybe an IRS. I think they should keep the retro look but improve on it.

Definitately would like to see the "hips, or shoulders or rear fender bulges" or whatever you want to call them. Even if they were more subtle than the old cars I think it give it more style. And for for sure re-design the auto shifter!!
heather locklear, strut tower brace, 400na hp, more tire/rim options, oil temp and temp gauges with numbers on them, more supportive seats. I like the seats now but I think they coulkd be a little better. More storage.
I want a more power NA engine in the GT. A better drivers seat with side support that holds you in place when you're not driving in a straight line. An independent rear suspension. A 6 speed gear box.
We should not be willing to accept less than these items. There will soon be more choice in American v8 coupes. Ford needs to wake up.

Manual locks and windows. Optional radio and a/c delete. V8 for the base model, and have the GT a bit more power then the base model V8. Less weight all around. 6M instead of a 5M.
I like to be a minimalist, but an external temperature guage might be nice, so you'd know if you need to look out for ice.
Other than that, better brakes, and an independent rear suspension.
I might be the only one to suggest this, but I wouldn't mind if it was a bit smaller - something closer to the original Mustang's size. (About half a foot shorter and thinner)

Lets make adjustments to the SRA. Get rid of the wheel hop. I'm also in the 400hp normally aspirated camp. Tighten up the interior, doesn't need to be completely redesigned, just tightened up. Get rid of the squeeks. Oh, we'll need to put more meat in the rear with that 400hp.
I think doing IRS will put too much cost into it. The Mustang GT cannot be $35,000. Convertable yes, coupe no. I'll even take the wheel hop if I can get the interior tightened up and 400hp.
