What should I do?
right now I have 15 thousand, I could go out and get a base V6 mustang with no options. or I could wait till november until I have more money, and get a mustang GT. what would you do?

How old are you? If you are young, the difference in insurance costs between the two might be substantial. You might want to check into that.
There is another option, you could buy a fully loaded used V6 with low miles for what you'd spend on a new one.

What I would do is post this in the right spot I'm kidding....I'll move it for ya
So right now you can afford a base V6 with no options, so exactly what sort of options would you be able to afford on the GT if you wait 4 months?
As already mentioned, insurance rates might also weigh in on what you can afford in the long run.
Regardless, if you have to "settle" on something you will never be happy.

Im 17 years old. and I have no car. If I got the base V6 It would get me into a car. But if I wait till november I will have 98 thousand dollars, and get whatever I want.

If you manage to accumulate 98k by November then you have a golden opportunity to make a big investment (NOT in a car). The best thing you can do in investing is start young, that money will compound like crazy over the years. Buy a cheap car and invest the rest, it's the best thing you can possibly do at your age.

screw insurance, man... my first car that I bought was a Mustang GT.. an '88 allbeit, and it was 8 years old.... but, my parents had other plans for my hard earned cash... and I'll say that I was much happier for doing what I wanted. So.. get a GT regardless of insurance. Just keep the record clean, and that'll work itself out. Poach off your parents' insurance if you can.. perhaps put your dad as the primary, and you a secondary on the car. That's how I got around $450 a month on insurance... that was 11 years ago. I can only imagine what it's like today. and I had no tickets.

I say, go for the V6 and invest the rest... I bought a loaded 2005 V6, one year old with 10,500 miles on it for 16k. The sticker price was 22k, but i managed to negotiate "a little".
What I'm trying to say is, I would shop around for a loaded pre-owned, you usually still have warranty on it and you might be able to save thousands of dollars compared to a new one.
Just my 2 cents.

Get the GT man, or youll always be telling yourself "what if".... or "I could have smoked him if I had a GT." Thats what I would do at least, but Im 16 so Im "stupid" like the rest of us younguns. I plan to buy a GT when I turn 18 (maybe a bit before), and then hopefully put my dad as my primary like Clintorius said.

Dear Kevin,
The smart money is on a V6 and pocket the rest for savings. That being said, you may not want to do the smart thing as you are only 17 and need to make a bunch of mistakes. I still say V6, which can be modded to just over 300 HP and I'll send you my GT filler cap badge for no cost if you go that route. I'm 31, married, no kids, and I could just kick my self for all the money I "pi$$ed" away during those 17 to 23 years of age. I could have bought a real GT right now had I kicked my girlfriend to the curb and put my 30K away 15 years ago!
Girls and Cars come and go, but earned interest income is NOW!

Sorry to be a voice of reason, but with 98K, I thinking college education. The Mustang may change a bunch in the future and may not look as nice. However there will be a car out there that will excite as much if not more. Invest wisely. But if there is more where that came from it really doesn't matter does it. Live it up. But if not be smart. I'm just being a father.
