I'd say that some sort of SE is a high probability (especially with the Pony Pkg in '06 and the C/S in '07). It makes sense to keep interest high for the 08MY as the car gets a refresh for '09.

I'll put my money on a 08MY Bullitt. They can tie it to the 40-year anniversary, etc.

I JUST POSTED THIS ON ANOTHER TOPIC - FYI

I was at the Cleveland Auto Show last night, and here is what the Ford Rep for the Shelby Mustang told me about the SE's.

There will be an SE Mustang for 2008. He didn't say when it was going to be released. MY2008? MY2009? I don't know! But lets just hope its a MY2008 and its released in fall of 2007.

Ford hasn't said yet which SE they will be releasing first - Mach1, Boss, Bullet etc. But, three cars are currently being worked on or are in development. By the way this guy was talking, it sounded like the Boss could be the replacement for the Shelby.

The new SE's will be SVT badged cars.

Ford has several options of engines to use on the SE's. He could only speculate what they are going to use. He didn't mention the 4.6L, so I asked him "So a 4.6L won't be in the new SE?" and he hesitated for a second or two and said that "No, I can't rule that one out", "It wouldn't take much to get that engine up to 350-400hp".
He talked about the power to weight ratio. Comparing the Shelby to the Mustang GT. He said Ford engineers are going to apply the same concept to the SE's. So we should expect to see some very fast SE Mustangs.

The Ford Rep told me that his brother is an engineer or designer at Ford, I can't recall which one, but he is involved with the Mustang project. His brother told him, that there are some very cool stuff in the works. Some body changes, just like Brad reported.

I was told that Shelby has been working with Team Mustang recently. Makes you wonder if there will be a Shelby GT350 in the near future.

Whatever it is I hope they make the motor stronger than the GT motor.

And the Ford rep I saw by the Shelby wouldn't pop the hood because "they disconnected the cable because the engine isn't finished" ...

No big deal. Launch is months away. The C6 Corvette had a ton of quality issues right before it was launched - Trans. & areas of the fiberglass body cracking.

GM came to my facility last year in a proto Z06 Corvette. It had the worst paint job I've ever seen. So, I wouldn't be complaining about a car at the Auto Show!

That's what the rep at the DC auto show told me. Said it was just a prototype with a finished exterior and interior, wouldn't let us get any closer because the mechanical underpinnings weren't done yet.

One thing I don't get is what is Ford waiting few years until untroducing special Mustang models. Same thing happened with last generation, they waited until 5th year in production until introducing Mach 1 and Cobra. They're doing same thing now. Why just not introduce them from the beginning?

If they brought everything out the first year then what would they do in the out years to maintain interest? Spreading out the excitment over several years keeps the buzz/interest alive.

Keep improving them maybe? They would sell many more in 4 years of production than in 2 years of production.

Are you talking about the last generation as in the 99+ style or the 94+ style. Cause there were Cobra's throughout both of those generations. In the 99+ there was a bullit in 01, Three years of Cobras before the Supercharged one and they even launched the restyle with one, and the Machs started in the 4th production year (03).

I even forgot about the cobra r
