This is what i went through to get my new mustang. My first order for a 2005 mustang gt coupe was placed on 01/28/05 on x plan.Well around april the dealer tells me that i'm not going to get one and the xplan didn't help. Now this is the dealership i have bought 3 cars from and my inlaws have bought many cars from and i used to work at for 6 years. So i reorder a 2006 mustang gt coupe well around august they tell me that the first gt coupe that comes in will be mine ok.The first gt coupe comes in nope not mine the second gt coupe comes in and yes not mine .So the dealership tells me that the cars were automatics and ford pulled them they had no input to what ford did.Now it's september and still no car vin or build date with only around 6 gt's allocated to them makes me think am i going to get an 06.So on october 3 i tell them i want to know what is going on with my car they said they were going to call there rep .So on october 10 i went to the dealership and there it was a gt coupe yep you guessed it not mine and even better the car was for dealer stock. Now i was done i cancled my order at CROWLEY FORD PLAINVILLE CT.I reordered from BILL CURRIE FORD TAMPA FLA from salesman BOB SHAW.BOB was realy good to me and the hole deal was nice .I got the car at xplan price it took 7 week to come in ordered on10/12/06 came in on11/30/06.I flew to fla and drove the car home to ct.What a nice trip and car .I can't thank everyone at BILL CURRY FORD enough AND BOB SHAW. As far as CROWLEY FORD I'LL NEVER BUY ANY CAR FROM THEM AS LONG AS I LIVE  IT'S ALL ABOUT MAX PROFIT

This is the kind of story that I don't like to hear about. I ordered my car a month ago and it should be 4 to 8 weeks away from delivery, but the dealer has been hard to get info out of since I placed the order, and that makes me a little nervous. I don't want to wait another couple months only to find out there's a problem and I have to reorder with another dealer.

They only had allocation for six cars. What dealer do you like enough locally to have your car serviced at, but who also couldn't order and deliver for you so you went to a Florida dealer? I bought in Maine but only trust Crowley's service here in CT. Congrats

sadly with the gt demand as it is, it looks to me as if most dealers will get what they can out of them...theyre in business to make money, not friends I understand, but still- jacking around people that ordered in good faith is simply friggin wrong.
One local dealer told me last summer he had dozens backordered all year for people and he thought they 'would never get built'- yet he had 4 loaded gt convertibles coming as stock in 4 weeks that he would reconfigure to whatever I wanted for 5 over. Bs'ing with sales manager about the 'shortage' he kinda matter-of-factly said that ' well you know most of the dealers are just dealer trading ordered cars for over sticker...most guys ordering will never get one...' trying to suggest I take their 'great offer' of only 5 over. Screw them.

Personally I hope every dealer that lied to a ordering customer by dealer trading, or bumping stock ahead of retail priorities gets nabbed by ford...I had a good dealer/salesman, and in talking to him about the bs I'd heard from other dealers, he said ford does audit sales occasionally, and hopefully these guys will get called on that type of behavior- its bad for all car dealers when some pull this crap. sadly I dont really think ford cares as long as the cars sell- at least at the 'sales to dealer' level employees... theres some great folks at ford, but from what ive seen getting ahold of one is pure dumb luck, or a needle in a haystack search.
When the hauler smacked up my first ordered car unloading it, the dealer had 6 different folks from ford on the phone- 3 I was sitting in the office while he was talking to them- I asked him to ask them if I could talk to them myself for a second...no...3 times.
I called fords 'customer care hotline' or whatever they call it- the lady was very nice, sincere sounding...she put me on hold to 'speak with someone higher up'...she called my dealer and started beating them up for ' a number' to knock off the price...I know this because it was my sister in law she called. dealer support is more bullpoo than customer support.

I wouldnt have my car today if I had not emailed a VP (scrounged around and found some names from bios on fords site- fords email structure pretty simple) and he actually contacted the regional rep and said make it happen- and the rep personally called me (I think the way the rep talked he thought I was a friend of the vp, as he was calling him by first name...).
this was not but a few minutes after I'd called dealer and said just forget it... talked to the rep for a few minutes and everything was fixed...reordered/same identical car/priority one-vin following thursday/ they even gave a 5 yr instead of 3 yr warranty...but, this was 3 freakin days after the hauler incident- with absolutely no one from ford I could talk to until then.
the big guys at ford (regional and up) are concerned, but the current customer/dealer middlemen need to just go away...hopefully in the recent restructuring, the good guys will get a chance to make some changes to make this better- it shouldnt require the intervention of a vice president to handle a little daily snafu...they really need to get someone like Kzinti to work with the big guys to revamp this whole ordering/information/allocation abortion currently causing so much greif, and encouraging so much dishonesty from dealers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, as I hope to never have to go thru this again- even if the car is worth the wai, it dont make it any more right.
