This is called the GT Owners will survive cord... This cord has been placed into the trunk for a saftey precaution to you.. What the theory is, is lets say you get alittle hungry... We all get hungry, so thats nothing new.. Well you decide you want to get some fast food.. So you decide you want some tacos at Jackin-The-Box... As you pull in and place your order, you are quite happy that a few people really dig you 2006 GT Mustang.. You place your order for the tacos and think to yourself, just how good life really is.. You have a GT Mustang, and are expecting a fresh order of some hot and greasy tacos from Jackin-The-Box..
Well, as you wait in line, behind a 4x4, you notice in the rear-view some guys running towards you.. As they approach, they bop you on the head, drag you out the car, and shove you into the trunk... You dont fit at first, so one of the guys opens the trunk puches you in the gut, and this forces you into a feedle position... As they grab your order of taco's from the teller, using your ATM card you left in the center console, you get a good chance to hear just how good you custom exhaust sounds, with long tube headers... Sounds great from back there doesnt it? The thiefs want to see how good this car really is, so they step on it.. They are jetting around corners, and really making your car move... Meanwhile you are banging your head and shoulders in the trunk...
Well, you remember that Ford placed a saftey trunk release in the trunk just for this situation... You pull it, when they come to a stop, you jump out and run to the nearest pay phone.. The cops catch the guys, your safe, and the car is in good shape.. They did eat all of your tacos, but other than that all is well....
You call Ford and thank them for the saftey trunk release!

Jack in the Box sells tacos? And what is this "feedle" position you speak of?

lol guys.
in response to the original post. I think the handle is supposed to have velcro to attach to the other "dot". It might have fallen off. Maybe pick up some new velcro or peel off the one on the trunk.

The proper term is "Mafia Informant Release Handle".
The proper term is "Mafia Informant Release Handle".
Or as we refer to it in the business has the acronym MIRH, which when pronounced sounds like one of the gifts brought to Bethlehem this time of year by one of the wise men. 2000 years ago they were the only ones who actually knew what Myrhh was.
So when you think of your MIRH, think of the wise men and what this season is really all about.
The velcrowww will not hold the handle very good (road bumps etc) You can stuff the handle a bit farther back into the hole where the cord attatches and it will hold better and will not dangle.
