What makes the tach not accurate? Why wouldn't they wire it the same as the aftermarkets?

mmmm... Taco Meatier
I dont know what makes it inaccuarate that is just what I understood was the reason for aftermarket Tachs.

Lol What's a Taco Meter.

So your saying that the light behind the cluster could just as easily be wired from the true RPMs instead of the Tach or would you need to have an aftermarket Tach.
Yeah I know I misspelled it after I hit enter didnt feel like editing it. You can wire a shiftlight up and not have to have a tach. Most factory tachs are off. Dont really know the reason why. I had a 91 model lx and it was off by 300 rpms. My 00 gt was off by 200.

Is wiring the light up something that would require a lot of work, or is it fairly simple.

Yeah true...perhaps only if you could install like a super bright LED or something, but yeah it probably wouldn't be bright enough.
Just slap the darn high beam LED in there . . . that'll get ur attention!

Should be easy. I know the 99+ cars were just a couple wires.
