What does this mean?

My dealer sent me an email saying:

"The DORA has been processed , and part of the Vin will be # ..VFT82 H 7."

What does this mean?

The order has been processed? The car is not yet scheduled to be built, though correct?

Since I just ordered 2/16/07, is this fast, slow, normal?

And why do they only know part of the VIN???

Thanks

The waiting, oh the waiting...

NORMAL
Your dealer sounds like he is doing the right stuff so far.
Double check the DORA now. Make sure it is right.
You can't know the end of the VIN until it has a build date.

Good to know he is on the ball, although this guy seems like a straight shooter.

Sounds normal to me. I ordered my car on 10/20/04 and got my DORA w/ a full VIN on 11/4. When I got the paperwork I noticed a PARTIAL VIN printed on the form w/ the FULL VIN hand written by the dealer.

In my case I got my FULL VIN on 11/4 which turned out to be a little over a month before the car's build date (if I remember correctly it was on a temporary delay until early December when it's status changed to 'serialized awaiting scheduling' followed by it's actual build week.

The reason you're only seeing a partial VIN is because the first half or so digits is standardized for your vehicle. Take a look at this thread:

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=49141

There's a bunch of good info on there about what the numbers mean in your VIN. Also, there is a number you can call to check up on the status of your vehicle. If you'd like more info on that send me over a PM.

I just mean that you need to make sure the order is exactly what you wanted.
Too many people have gotten hit with some little glitch in the order and have not gotten exactly what they wanted.
