What does "Bucked" mean

I went to my dealer yesterday, he gave me a print-out (from Ford) of my vin #. Right after the vin# it said "Bucked" ?

I think that means it's on the assembly line.

Don't quote me on this but IIRC from what I've read, usually about a 24 hour period for assembly at the most. Sounds like your baby is almost arriving.

They (Ford) must be getting caught up on orders, my '05 GT took 5+ months. The GT/CS i ordered on 10/22, and it's almost here.

Bucked means everything is in place to build the car. All the parts have been allocated to that specific car and everything is on schedule.

The order of the steps:
Unscheduled/Clean
Submitted To Plant
Scheduled
Bucked
Produced
Realeased From Plant
Convoy
Rail Car
Convoy
Delivered
Sold

That's a good thing, at first I thought somebody at Ford made a typo and the car had been assembled with mix-and-match parts!

From what I remember for my days back a Blue Oval Forums and Kizinti....

Bucked means that your frame is sitting in a "Bucket" and all of your parts are in their "Bucket" waiting to get on the Assembly Chain in it`s order.

Fear not....for Life will be soon and it will be "Born".

Yeah, what he said. He knows the deal for sure. My '05 and my '07 followed the same exact procedure. I must have enjoyed healthy allocations, because my cars were delivered five weeks after ordering in both cases.

I remember hearing the word "Bucked" shortly before taking delivery.
