What do you think?
Ok I would like some feedback on this deal. I was on my way to my friend's house today as I do every weekend in Old Bridge, NJ and was passing the local Ford dealership (Ford Oasis on Rte 9). Driving by the dealership I hooked a hard right into their lot & decided to check out pricing for the GT I want. I wasn't expecting much sinceI had heard not so nice things about this Ford dealer but figured, "Hey I'm only going in to get a price. They probably won't even honor my X-Plan anyways but let's see." So out front they have a nice white '05 V6 and inside they have a mineral grey '05 V6 as well. As I was checking out the Stang a salesman comes over and asks if I'm interested in the car. Duh? I'm not drooling on myself for nothing, I'm thinking.
So we start discussing the car and obviously being a member of TMS I know more about the car than he does as most of us know from going into dealerships. So I ask if he'd give me a ballpark figure on a Sonic Blue Gt... he goes I'll do you one better let's price one for you. I go trough my laundry list: Sonic Blue Manual GT w/ dark charcoal interior, interior upgrade, anti-theft, side airbags, wheel locks, stock Bullitt rims, Shaker 500 and the spoiler delete (which makes him tilt his head like a puzzled pooch). He write it al down and goes into the back but before he does I mention I'm an X-Plan member. Low and behold he goes, "Ok sure no problem."
Did he just say, "Sure No problem?"
10 minutes later he comes out from the back and hands me a piece of paper with all I asked for plus the other standard figures, delivery, NJ fees, etc... nothing major or out of the ordinary. $25,172.25 I must have looked like the cat who swallowed the canary cause now he's looking at me like:
Him)
"Something wrong?"
Me)
"No No No!"
Him) "Ok good, all I would need to place the order is a non-refundable $1000 down since you want it without the spoiler and most people don't want the spoiler delete option."
Me) "Ok I'm doing my taxes this weekend and would still have to run this by the "little woman"
and get the "OK"... Could you leave this on file and I'll get back to you ASAP?"
Him) "Sure, No Problem. Here's my card. Just let me know by April cause it's still going to take about 4 to 5 months before it'll even come in."
Me) "Thank you, blah blah blah...and so on."
So what do you think? Is the figure right? Would you go for it? I was so close to whipping out my credit card and saying just do it! 4 to 5 months? :bang:
or :notnice: ?

X-plan is X-plan price no matter where you go. he cant change that higher or lower. all he can do is either accept it or deny it. fyi i ampaying 25, 211 for mine with gt premium, spoiler, shaker 500 IUP (since removed for 18r), active anti theft, 17" machined wheels
looks good to me, I got X-plan and similar options (minus the air bags and locking wheels) and mine was 25,245.
What I don't understand is that if x-plan is supposed to be the same for everybody, it isn't. I have seen variances of a couple hundred dollars.

sounds pretty nice..see if he will accept the x-plan..the dealers that accept the x-plan are far and few! i found one...about 23,047 for a base 05 GT WB, dark charcoal cloth, active theft and thats it! im sure u could get 23-24 for the car if he accepts ur xplan
Looks like a good deal, however...
I don't think they would have any problem selling a GT with spoiler delete. Certainly not enough to require a non-refundable deposit.
"Ok good, all I would need to place the order is a non-refundable $1000 down since you want it without the spoiler and most people don't want the spoiler delete option."
Price sounds about right to me (see my sig for my price and options). However, I ordered with spoiler delete, and my deposit was $500, and they told me it was refundable at any time until delivery (hopefully that is actually true).
X-plan here with spoiler delete. $500 (supposedly) refundable deposit.
As for the differences in X-plan pricing, could the dealer advertising fee (FDAF) vary from region to region?
Here in Northern CA it is $180 per vehicle. This was added to my X-plan price as well as around $20 for 11 gals of gas.

Fair Deal? Yes.....so it's a good deal.
Leave him with $1000 and a 4-5 month wait? No deal.
Let him have the $500 so he knows you're serious and mention
that you don't want to lay 1000 out there for 4 months.
The Good News is that I've ordered Mustangs twice in life and
once it took 2 1/2 months and the other time it was 10 weeks.
To put it another way it was 70 days exactly both times.
The only bad news I can see is that maybe this '05 will take
longer but I doubt it will go over 3 months.
Good Luck.

Sounds like a good deal to me. However I would only lay down the $1000.00 if it is refundable. Screw that non-refundable deposit. He's lying, there would be NO problem selling one without the spoiler, people can just order one if they want it or go aftermarket, surely wouldn't make or break a deal.

Hey I need some help here. It may seem stupid but what is an "X-PLAN" anyway?? How do you get it?? Is it for Ford employees and family or what?? Thanks

I'm in the military and went to military sales. You can get a good deal through them. I'm overseas and not sure if you can get one through them if you are in the states. Lets just say that I got every single option and payed $28,000 plus the 2 grand for overseas shipping, british road tax, light conversion and 7 year waranty. Got the shaler 1000 and red interrior too. so look around and see what you can do, just don't get the first one you see. I did order mine, so it does take a while to build. It will be built my march and delivered to England in april. Good luck.
I wish I could get one that cheap, V6's are over 26k here. A GT w/similar options is just over 35. Stripper GT's are 33. All msrp, so there's 2k of potential wiggle room
Congratulations...you are the first person I've ever heard to have a good experience at Oasis.
When the 99's came out, I went there first because its closest to my house and they had a nice electric green on one of their lifts, but the salesman(the one with the Australian accent-he's still there I am told) told me that he didn't want to waste time talking about the car because "its going to sell today anyway." He told me not to waste time(read: HIS TIME) and to just tell him when I was ready to pay MSRP.
A friend of mine had a similar experience with F-150's there just the other day.
I don't want to discourage you, but wait until the transaction is complete and they don't try to pull anything on you before you praise these guys. The reputation they have around Jersey is well-deserved.
