Yeah see I was hoping for a payment on the car to be anywhere from $300-350 no more. Because I figured the 04 GT (in my office) was about 375$ month. 300+375 is only 675. That leaves me about $600-650 a month left on stuff that I need...gas, mods, girlfriend, food, etc...
That's good that you have a budget. Too few people have a budget and stick to it. Just remember, to negotiate the final price, NOT the monthly payment. Some salesmen loooove to do that. Then they lure you into 72 month (or more) loans. [/b][/quote]
Exactly.

But I'm sure the reason people do it is because the monthly payment is what they are concerned about....but you have to see the big picture when you're talking $$$.

Work it out backwards in advance so you know what the car should cost total to get a monthly payment you can afford.

If you just try to negotiate a payment, you lose sight of what you are paying for the car.
