What to do with takeoff parts?
What to do with takeoff parts?
Well, the up-side is that I have a bunch of really nice mods in my car. But, the down-side is that my garage is filling up with the stock parts like the driveshaft, axle-backs, rocker panels and wing. The probability is just about zero that I am going to put any of that stuff back.
What have you guys been doing with your takeoff stuff? I don't know many folks around my small town that would be interested, and I can't just put the stuff out with the garbage.
I'm going to have the same problem with my stock wheels and tires when I upgrade to 18's this summer.

Sold my stock 17" with tires at a garage sale but I still have my axle backs and factory springs... Not bothersome yet. When I get around to selling my hood then I'll be annoyed.
I just bought a V6 spoiler on EBAY already my color. Happy to have it but, it's not as easy to change as people say they are. That aside, I have my axlebacks too and they are stacked up against the garage wall. I do plan to keep them as long as I have the car. Might want to switch back someday.
Hoods are a big problem. I'd like to buy a fiberglass one but, don't want to store my factory one for 2-3 years.
Ebay is your best bet or, a local paper or craigs list is a nation wide free sale board.
EDIT - oh and the large factory air box......got that too.

OK, so I guess we're all in the same boat. I'm not a big fan of e-bay, and I think if I did get a buyer, the packaging and shipping might be more trouble than the sale is worth. I may have to buy one of those plastic storage sheds for the backyard and load it up with auto parts.
And, yes I too have the factory air box and tubing stuffed away under my work bench.

Haha, this is a delima alot of us have. You could try craigslist? Thats more for pick up's only.
I have stuff spread out all over the place.
Winter tires/rims at work.
Hood at friends shop.
Mufflers, intake, pulleys, springs, brake pads, brake lines at my Dads house
Dragradials, convertor H pipe, 2 spare street tires, shifter, hoodprop, helmets, winter floor mats, Spare set of stock floor mats, spare stock shifter ****, Lower control arms, all here at home.
Wow, thats alot of crap, but I'm sure theres people with alot more than me.

lotta stuff that is stock people wont want unless they tossed theres and they are switching back to stock for trade in or along those lines.
I suggest that you save all your old parts and stash them in the attic, basement, shed, something. My last car I sold lots/dumped tons of parts and then had to leave them on when I traded it in. Got me upset.
As an example I'm keeping my factory H pipe so I can make a off road h pipe to match up to my kooks headers. Save me some cash in the end of not haveing to buy one.
Now if you want to sell so you can get some money back to re-spend, find a v6 guy that wants some GT parts.

You know Zack, I was thinking the same thing myself. If I knew a V6 guy, he could really benefit from some of this stuff, but I think it would have to be in town. Shipping mufflers or a wing are a major undertaking. I've sold or given away stuff over the years, but it was usually something I could put in a small box and take to the post office.
The driveshaft is a killer because I am convinced nobody will want it. That one might just go into the trash.

You might try selling the stuff on eBay or selling it here in the "For Sale" section of the board.
Good luck - some things just won't sell period and you'll have to figure out what to do with it.
For example, I have been trying to sell my original 17" bright aluminum wheels and tires for months - no interest. SIGH...
I did buy my Fanblades and CDC chin spoiler through folks here, and sold my stock headlights and Triax shifter.
You never know though! I have seen people buy used rotors and shocks - items I typically would NEVER consider picking up used. To each their own. Happy hunting!
