I was wondering that too. I placed my order on 2/18 and noticed that when I got home. What's the deal? (No pun intended)

It's a way Ford and some other companies give you the shaft by charging you for their advertising costs. I never have and never will pay this fee. Oh, and I refuse to pay for gas in the tank of a new car, once again...never have and never will. When I bought my last car, the sales manager gave me a company gas card and told me to go fill it up with gas wherever I wanted, but to just be sure and bring him back the card and receipt that day. Now that's customer service.

If you have purchased a vehicle, you have paid it...unless you paid invoice minus the FDAF; either way, anyone who frets over trivial things like this are a little too wrapped up in "getting a good deal"

Try going to any other retail store and see if they are interested in making a 2% profit...why are car dealers "crooks" because they sell a vehicle at MSRP (about 12.5% on a GT)?

I think it's great to negotiate a deal on a car (it's what I do for a living), but you would think it was the way some people treat buying a car...

Don't worry about it, it is included in the invoice price...

Aren't we all so lucky that the 2005 Mustangs are so popular? If they weren't we would have to pay even higher Advertising Fees! (He said tounge in cheek)

Everybody has to pay the FDAF...it's Fords doing, not the dealership trying to take advantage of you.

You know, they can take the cost of those things off of the final selling price though. So in essence it would be them paying for it and not the buyer. That is what will be happening for me anyway. It helps to either have friends at a dealer or make friends at a dealer.

That remains to be seen, I'm ordering an 06 in June and I'm sure prices will change between now and then. A friend of mine is the internet sales mgr at the local dealer and told me he'll sell to me for what he would pay for it, he has LOTS of lattitude from the sales mgr and GM to work prices. They didn't get to be one of the largest Ford dealers in the area by trying to not give customers what they deserve. That's probably a good reason why they have the largest mustang alottment around too. Seems like hardly a week goes by that a truckload of Mustangs doesn't roll in there. He knows that invoice price and hold-back are no secret to me so I'm not worried and truth be told I can wait till the price is right should anything happen(long story).

Dealers are required by the Manufacturer to provide a full tank of fuel at delivery...nothing special here...

So, let me get this straight...you don't have any idea what you're paying for the car...
Ask your internet buddy how much (in relation to invoice) you can buy one for. That shouldn't be too difficult.
BTW, your friend can buy for D-Plan. Unless you are an employee of the dealership, you cannot buy for this price. It is against Ford policy. (Not saying it COULDN'T happen, but the dealer could get in very hot water...not likely)

Do you know what the price will be in June for an 06? Didn't think so. And as far as Ford requiring a full tank of gas, yes...but a lot of (if not all) dealers are making people pay for the gas. And he's not planning on buying an 06 Ford anything so he will let me use his D plan, already got the go ahead from the boss and no, he wouldn't do it for just any friend. So enough of the

I know how to price a vehicle in relation to invoice whether it is June 2005 or June 1955, or just tell someone I am obtaining a D-Plan PIN...wonder if your friend and his boss know about this...

To: All Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealers
Subject: Launch of the D-Plan Security Enhancements

D-Plan auditing procedures require "proof of relationship" documentation to validate the claim and avoid any potential charge backs to the dealer. Current audits conducted by Ford have identified a substantial number of charge backs to dealers for D-Plan transactions because such documents could not be provided. In many cases the issue was a misunderstanding of the eligible family members that dealership employees could sponsor.

To assist the dealer in avoiding this scenario, we've implemented actions in the D-Plan PIN generation process to help control who is assigned a PIN at the time of PIN generation, providing dealership management more confidence that employees are following proper D-Plan procedures.

Not trying to just point out that just because Ford charges the DEALER for FDAF doesn't mean that someone is getting SCREWED by the dealer (again it is INCLUDED in the invoice price, which is all the original question asked, not how you got GREAT customer service b/c you got the free tank of gas you were entitled to)...this is ignorant. People try to come off like "Joe Car Deal" on here rather than letting someone who knows what they are talking about answer a reasonable question. And if you get the car at D-Plan, great. It's a great deal which I work hard for every day. I'd hate to see that ruined by "Joe"...

So a person is ignorant because they don't think it's right to be charged for the gas in their new car? That's like being charged for laces on new shoes. And no, I'm not trying to come off like "Joe Car Deal" I've paid sticker several times. It's just that when I can get a deal, I will. Period. As far as your comment about working so hard for your D plan, I asked about if the military discount was going to still be in effect when I wanted to get my car and he said, "We'll do you even better and get you our price on it, you earned it." Yeah, it's a great deal and I rarely ask for any concessions because of my job, and I didn't ask for it here...it was offered.

As for you being in the military....

:worship: :flag2:

I was only calling you out because you came off like a know-it-all, inferring that people that paid FDAF (everyone) was getting "screwed". And as for getting a deal when you can, I'm all for it.

Oh, hey, no hard feelings here and my apologies if there were any there. I was just a little peeved about how some auto makers charge the customer for things and some don't. None of the vehicles I've ever purchased have had any such charges. Once again, sorry if I came off as being a know-it-all. Oh, and here's a good one. I talked to my buddy again today and he said that he would not in fact be able to do D plan for me. You were right, he said Ford has really put the clamps on unauthorized use of any of the partner plans. He did talk to the GM about my case though and said they would give it to me at 5% over cost (a little over 7% off msrp if my calcs are correct, for an 05 model anyway). He even said that they would give that price guarantee to me in writing at the time of order if I wanted. It's no D, X or Z plan...but it is a pretty smoking deal IMO. Now, if June would just get here so I can order (I want it yesterday but finances do not allow).
And again...
and thanks for your insight. It did help.

i would ifll every vehicle i owned with 104 octane, and then go fill some gas cans and buy more gas cans and fill them.
