So I went on the website to build and price a Mustang today and saw that the Ford dealer near me has one Mineral Grey V6. I have no interest in the V6 but I did want to sit in it and get someone brocures and such. So I go to the Dealer and ask for some info and they say, "we are not getting any 05 Mustangs till December." They did not even have any catalogs, what the heck? I tell them that Ford's website says they are supposed to have a car IN STOCK, but they know nothing about it. So what's the deal, misinformed dealer? Or is little old me in Colorado not gonna get to enjoy a stang till their is 6 inches of snow on the ground? :bang:

The inventory search

They will have it soon enough, salespeople hear the same BS rumors everyone else does. You have to remember most salespeople could care less untill they have SOMETHING to sell. Not every salesperson's favorite thing in the world is a mustang, even at Ford dealers. They are just at work, and long discussions about the future cars do not pay bills. I'm sure everyone knows someone that could care less about the new stang, or even any car for that matter. I'm sure there is a mustang junkie or two there, buy when the car actually becomes sellable merchandise, the other salespeople's enthusiasim will change accordingly..

if it's showing up on the ford direct inventory, does that mean in the next couple of days it should physically be there?

Should mean its on the way or there already. Seems to coincide with the invoice being listed on FMCDealer, which is about a week before delivery and when the car goes into the 'system' for our locate program.

That happened to me today too. I drove 45 minutes to a dealer that showed a yellow 05 GT in stock. I got there and they said "huh?"

I know, I was just too excited to prepare. I wasn't mad or anything, part of the fun is the excitement you get on the way there. I tell you what, I was eating a couple of hot dogs when I read that they had one in stock. I've never eaten so fast in my life!

Yeah well, the dealer not 5 miles from where I go to college showed up that it had 3. I called & the guy I talked to was as clueless as the ones you guys talked to. But I will keep checking. I am about to die to see one in person. The wait is like cruel & unusual punishment or something. My mom thanks I am going crazy. I am sure she won't think that way when mine gets here.

I've got an '05 Sonic Blue GT ordered and it was to be deliverd last week. I still don't have it. According to the dealership and to Ford Customer Service, the car was shipped to convoy with an expected Delivery Date of the week of October 11.

I've been checking the Ford Direct Website and have noticed that the dealers throughout Central Illinois are showing '05 Mustangs being added to their inventory on the website, but mine doesn't show up at any of them. (I have one assigned to me with a VIN, and 2 other dealerships ordered ones exactly how I wanted them). I've called the dealerships that show they have '05s but they don't have them.

What is my next step??

Go to ford vehicles- type in the locate a dealer-
CALL!
Saves money AND time, trust me.

Don't rely on the check inventory either- I know more about what the dealers are getting than they do.

Im in the same boat, my expected delivery was 10-14-04(Thursday) and it didn't arrive on that date, or yesterday, and has not arrive as yet today.

To be fair the expected delivery date is an estimation and my dealer did tell me I could expect it this week or early next week.

Even with this knowledge the waiting is becomeing agonizing.

Right you are on that. I'm sure a salesperson would much rather sell a fully loaded F-150 or fully loaded Expedition than a Mustang. They'd make MUCH more money off that sale.

Klous,

It looks like we have both ordered the same car -- almost exactly. I wanted the wheels that came with the car instead of the upgrade. Out of curiousity, where are you located at?

I'm in Central Illinois. I know what you mean by agonizing. I'm losing sleep now. But it does seem that Sonic Blue is not showing up in any dealer inventories throughout Central Illinois. In fact, there are very few dealerships that show that they even have the '05.

Kevin,

My invoice has been in the FMCDealer system and has been in the system for 2 weeks. Any thoughts? I know someone on this board suggested that the non pre-sold cars were being delivered first so the dealerships would have stock to show and test drive. However, there are reports and pics of owners with their new cars that they pre-ordered and I know of 3 dealerships within a 200 mile area that have '05s ordered and have not received them as of yet. But it shows on the Search Inventory at www.fordvehicle.com as them having the cars. Ironically, none of them are sonic blue.

I'm assuming that your car is listed with the dealer as an ordered or "Retail" to the plant. Since it is a "Sold" item, it will not show up on your dealers "Inventory" status.

No chance of our twins meeting in a parking lot, Im in
Denton, Tx

I chose the bullet style wheels which are the standard wheel on the GT because I didn't like the upgraded wheels.

Looks like the only differance in our cars is you got the side air bags.

This is a crock of manure!! All those dangit dealerships around me that would NOT preorder me a car are listed with dealer inventory. The dealership that I did order from is the only one that has no inventory. :bang: :bang:

I don't think they "really" have them yet. I am going to see tomorrow.
