Unhappy

Thanks to Evil Capri talking to a Ford engineer, we now know that the lug pattern on the '05 wheels are the same as the previous... 5 x 4 1/2, and we also know that the '05 wheels have a larger offset... +45mm. So, now that we know this, does anyone know where we can get some wheels (preferrably 18's) with this large of an offset?

I'd have to disagree with that, I think those will look good on an 05. But that depends on the color of the car

At $500.00 each, add shipping, add another $1k+ for the tires, installation, ect.. You will be close to $3500.00 for this setup. These are the true mustang wheels but very pricey. You better make sure no one can steal them!!!

We know the tires on the new GT Mustangs- P235/55/ZR17, but does anyone actually know the wheel size on the GT. 17x8? 17x9? I kow the offset is 45mm, but that doesn't help unless I know the width of the wheel, as far as trying to fin out the backspace and finding wheels that will fit the GT. Does anyone know for sure the width of the new GT wheels?

Why make an expensive mistake of ordering wheels before you get the car?

There are so many fitment issues that could affect the wheel, clearance issues, etc. Why not wait until you get the car, and then you can see exactly how wide of a wheel you can stuff in there? That last thing I would want is to pay serious money for rims+rubber only to have them rub in every turn.

Good point, Galaxie. I was planning on getting new (wider) tires and new wheels before I get the car though, and wanted to be able to sell my stock wheels and tires brand new. So I wanted to have the new ones there already. If I order them after I get the car, and have to wait for them to come in, I can't sell my stock rubber on my tires as new. But not worth the risk of the ones I order not fitting. So, what do you recommend? Obviously waiting until the car comes in, then going to a tire/wheel place and getting them to take a look at the wheel wells and possible obstructions, etc... then ordering some wheels and tires. I don't have too much experience myself in fitting wheels on a car. Not sure if I'd want to be doing that myself.

Wow that is very expensive. I figured I'd look into the Mag 500 idea someday. But not anymore. Bullitts will do just fine for me and maybe get some Cragers later on for the classic wheel.

Its too bad that you ordered from the first batch of cars.

If you had waited a few months, I am sure there would be write-ups in the Mustang magazine about '05+ wheel and tire fitment.

That's ok... being one of the first to have one is worth more to me than the new wheels, I guess. After seeing those pics of the mineral gray with the painted bullitts that Amy took, I actually like those wheels enough to keep them for a while, until my stock rubber needs changing out... then I'll just sell the wheels on eBay, and get me some new wheels and tires. Thanks for the advice.

I'm hoping that since I'm buying in late winter that I'll get to see pics of other people putting 18's on their 05's. Help me decide what I want if I go aftermarket.

The rim size is good, but for my personal prefeance i'm gonna put some Mickey Thompsons, and a tiny bit more sidewall. For rims totaly undecided.

I want the stock 18 inch wheels. I read the stock 18's will be introduced 6 months to a year after the launch date.
I am not interested in after market's at this point.

On the rim..275s are as large as you'd want to go on a 8 inch wide.

Once you get to 9 inch wide, you'd want at LEAST a 255 to start...and upwards.

Now whether it will fit on the rim, or it will fit the front/rear...
Those are different questions.

Now don't think just because the 18s have 255s that it will fit, you may have to look at the design of the rim, as it may have the extra inch on the outside...keeping the rubber from hitting anything on the inside
