When it rains a lot (yeah I live in Seattle) water comes into the car and soaks the passenger side carpet. I belive it fills up the heater box, then over flows. It's not when I'm driving, but when it's sitting im my driveway all night and it's pouring... Anyone else have this problem? What's the solution?

It's really annoying. A couple weeks back I had to remove the passenger seat, center console, passenger side carpet (yeah, I had to cut it!) just to dry everything out. Now I have to do it again. It really stinks.

hmm... I'll do a quick search in the warranty section, I remember reading something about that maybe a year ago. Give it a try as well if you don't come up with anything

I recently had the same problem, wet carpet near the junction box, soaked under the passenger seat, and the back seat passenger floor pan filled with about 1/4" of water. The weird thing was the farther back in the car the more water there was. The dealer resealed cowl (can't remember the TSB, but there is one) in early november and no problems since then. Trunk leaked too, it needs to be serviced again.

I had a similar problem in my car right after buying it earlier this year, first time it rained hard I had a lake in the pass. side footwell. The dealer fixed it, but it leaked again a few months later and I had them re-do it. It's been fine since (knock on wood).

If you are still under warranty then you really need to take it into the dealership to get it fixed.

I have a 2006 Mustang GT and it did this slao. Water would also get into the smart junction box and cause wierd lighting issues (one single tail-light buld would stay on with the car and all other lights turned off or just one front turn signal light would stay lit with the car and all other lights off).


I took my car into my dealer some time in 2006 (before the TSB was released) and they found that the cowl was not sealed properly. They replaced the cowl seal...no more water leaks into the passenger side floor since.

On some cars, the cowl needs to be replaced because it may be warped or otherwise defective.

Remove the balck plastic covers over the rear bolts of the seat by pulling them towards the rear of the car. This will expose the two rear bolts. I think they were either 13 or 15 mm. Unbolt these and then the two front ones unplug the wiring for the airbag sensor and so forth and ....wala.
