Hehe...maybe it falls back to what was in the post.

"met up to do some eating and some driving"

Hummm...eating.

Though I don't wish this on anyone and it stinks

I'm always sorry to see stuff like this. If I ever get mine I'm going to take real good care of it and not do dumb stuff like race or anything like that. (I'm on month 3 by the way, when will the suspense end? )

*sigh* ...dmn forum just ate my reply.

New attempt: 3 cars out driving, 2 falls behind due to a slow vehicle in between, GT being last. When the road straighthens out, they both overtake and doing so manage to bump into each other. GT loses control, goes offroad and hits a drainage pipe, flipping it over twice.

I figure the GT driver underestimated his own acceleration and floored it too much, rear-ending his buddy in the process. In that situation it is very difficult to keep control of the car so I'm not surprised that he hit the ditch.

For those of us vert owners it freaks me out a little to see one on its roofs considering I don't really have a roof.

What were they thinking ... ah, cancel that ... NOT thinking?! :bang:

Glad to see that no one was seriously hurt. Too bad the incident trashed yet another '05 GT. We will have to wait and see on the insurance rates though.

Take care all and drive smartly!

People ..... If you don't know how to drive a high horsepower rear wheel drive, or have never driven one, please do us a favor and don't buy one. Why is it that every dippoo that thinks they know how to drive doesn't.

Word of advice to all you out there that haven't done it yet. Take your cars to the local AutoX, Open Road Course, or driving school and learn what your car can do. More importantly, learn what YOU are capable of. You will thank yourself for it.

I don't feel sorry for this dippoo. They were screwing around on a public road no less and got what they asked for. He's darn lucky to be alive ... He's darn lucky that he didn't kill some family coming the other direction.

Stupid drivers really **** me off.

First pass I made was on a clear road, but I didn't expect the car to accelerate as quick as it did. 50 to 75 in a blink.

I have personally been in quite a few different wrecks. THAT CAR WAS DOING MORE THAN 45!!! Another interesting fact is that the driver wasn't wearing his seatbelt b/c of a rotator cuff tear and it was uncomfortable....I wonder if that Chest tube keeping his lung from collapsing is ver comfortable.

I'd say a culmination of two things. First, panic from the bumped. Probably caused him to jerk the steering wheel and/or hit brakes/throttle. Second, once you hit the loose gravel/grass and are in a panic mode, all kinds of nasty things can happen.

Two people trying to pass at the same time is racing whether they were doing 45 or whatever - they were still contesting for the pass..

This is not always true. My mom & I have done just this on several occasions. As have people whom were with behind me or I was behind them (no we were not following on purpose only my mom & I were).

When my mom & I are following each other to town (13 miles away from our home) & we get behind someone really really slow we pass. If she's in front she passes 1st & then I pass. But in NO way are we contesting for the pass. We have to drive 13 miles on HWY 104N, which to, I am assuming, all of you don't know is nothing but hills & curves. And there is NO legal passing zone anywhere on that road.

More people have had wrecks on that road & have been killed on that road than anyother in our county (with the exception of I40 & maybe 412). The "legal" speed limit is 55, however you can do 65-75 in certain spots. But I have ridden that road everyday of my life (23 years) at least twice. I could drive it in my sleep. I know the raod & I know what I can & can't do & where it can & can't be done.

My mom is the same way. She's 60, my brother is (almost)33, my uncle is (almost) 65 & my granpa is 86. They all drive the road at 60+ & they ALL pass on that road. However, People who do not know how to drive it are the ones going 45 mph & putting their brakes on around every curve, no matter how small or sharp (and believe me there are ALOT of them). Those are the people we pass & usually cuss & fuss at as we are passing them.

I think this was just a case of the guy no knowing the road & not knowing his car well enough. Either way. BOT ~ I am glad that noone was hurt. Maybe next time he will wear his seat belt.
