Vinyl Stripes Question
Vinyl Stripes Question
Ok so Im getting ready to order some BSM 12" stripes for my GT and install them when it comes out of the body shop from the accident repairs. But I have a question, Im planning on ordering a CDC Chin spoiler too, but with the accident deductible, im probably going to have to wait til next month when I get it. I'd like to do my stripes the second I get the car though and was wondering, if I just get the stripes for the stock bumper, can I just get addon vinyl for when I get the CDC spoiler later? I sent an email to BSM, but figured I'd ask you guys since most of you have hands on experience with this. Thanks!
I had my BSM stripes (dual 10" w/ 1/4" border pin stripes) installed about 2 months ago. My kit came with both the std bumper pieces along with the CDC Classic chin spoiler pieces. Rob @ BSM is a real stand-up guy too... and provides exceptional customer service. I sent him an idea for my rocker panel decals, and he responded (and committed) to creating this design within an hour... and it was after midnight! My installer even commented on the high quality of the vinyl and the precision cuts.
Yes, you can stripe the CDC Classic anytime. My kit contained 2 front bumper pieces (with and without a license cutout). Since I don't have a front plate, I used the other piece for the CDC. If Rob sends you a seperate piece for the spoiler, that's great!
I don't know what you're having done at the body shop, but if it's being painted, you may want to let the paint flash off for a while before laying vinyl on top of it.

I did the 10" w/1/4" pin as well form BSM and they included the standard and the cdc pieces.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll ask if I can order both bumper pieces (stock and CDC) and go from there. This is why I love this forum. Oh and Taco thanks in advance for the walkthrough
Alright so I finally got my car back, and they did beautiful work. My stripes arrived 2 days early as well so I had them before I got the car. Saturday I picked up my car, and that afternoon I planned on getting started on it, doing the roof and the hood and finishing the rest with my partner this week.
I get outside, and it is SCORCHING hot (mid 90s, very humid), and after 20 mins in the sun, I just said forget about it and put them back in the box. I did get a chance to outline where the stripes would go and place the tape and it doesnt look like it will be TOO hard (not to mention, I've studied Tacobill's how-to, read other reviews here, and printed out the BSM how-to), but is there anything you guys recommend before i give it another shot this week?
I have the solution mixed up in a spray bottle, I have 1.5" masking tape (may get 2" though), a hair dryer, and I have a boatload of patience. I will probably do piece by piece over the course of the early evenings (5pm-8pm), and hope to be done before this weekend arrives, but I want to make sure I dont miss any steps some of you experienced guys may want to emphasize.

If it is hot, just make sure to keep them wet at all times. I went through 3 bottles of solution during my install.
