Vin Question
Ok,
I'm a little confused. I just went to the fleet.ford.com website, and the VIN Decoder tells me I have a GT with a 4 liter engine, 6 cylinders. I notice this is true with the VINs I see for Mustang GT Deluxe editions. Is this right? I thougth all the GT's had 4.6 liter engines. If this is true, I don't know why I'm paying for the GT since that's the same engine as the V6. What's up with that? Is this a mistake on Ford's part? Try it yourself!

Mustang 2005 GT Deluxe VIN
1ZVHT82H355125707
Mustang 2005 GT Premium VIN
1zvft85h255163724
On a side note. I can't believe how many people are posting on E-Bay Mustang GT's as premium GT's when in reality they are Deluxe GT's. There are so many crooks out there!

Obviously all of the GTs have the V8, and all of the V6s ("base" for lack of a better term) have a V6.
The VIN tool on the Fleet site is misinterpreting the engine codes (the 8th digit).
Download the PDF document for 2005 at the bottom of the link you posted for the correct interpretations of the codes:
H is the 4.6L V8
N is the 4.0L V6

Someone could have a deluxe, upgraded leather and shaker and you would not be able to tell the difference between that and a premium (except I believe it would be cheaper to go premium)

According to the charts and not the autodecoder, this should be an 05GT coupe with side air bags manufactured at AAI. Deluxe and premium have no bearing here.
This one should be an 05GT convertible no side air bags manufactured at AAI again deluxe, premium, or anything else is not represented
The only difference between a premium and deluxe (as far as I could tell) is leather seating and the stereo, both of which could be upgraded without the package.

I disagree, you can see in the VIN if it's a T85 AKA GT Premium or a T82 AKA GT Deluxe.

You would be wrong.
T85 and T84 are the GT and V6 verts (mine was T85, GT vert )
T82 and T80 are the GT and V6 coupes
Others have said that the decoder is wrong (I have not checked it out), but I read the PDF file for 2005 on the above web site and it is pretty clear unless you confuse base/GT with deluxe/premium. Also, If you ever received your DORA (I drooled over mine for 6 weeks) you will notice that Deluxe and Premium are packages and have nothing to do with your VIN.

Doh, I think you're right. That seems to make sense now.
