I was doing some personal research on VIN's and I have a few questions, first things first:
-Current estimate of how many stangs are churned out in a day?
Will help answer some other questions:
-since the 12th through the 17th digits are car-unique, and production started at 100001, if a car was 105447 I am assuming it is the 5447 car off of the line, yes/no?
-by that rationale, does anyone know where production stands right now?
This will help settle an argument that is just bothering me.
Thanks for the unbelievable amount of good info thus far!!

If I remember right, they're at around 600 a day.
According to 2MustangJohn, cars are not built in the order of VIN #, but rather by some sort of internal tracking system.
And according to that, I have no idea where the production is.

I'm sure that John is 100% correct on the #........I can say that my car 100748 WAS built on 9/08 , so there's a good chance that the first few thousand cars will be in some semblance of order, simply because of the startup and timing.

Ok, mine was 111224, supposedly built 9/20. Man if that is so that would mean almost 11,000 cars built in 12 days. Of course that is assuming bullittman's car was built on 9/08 and mine on 9/20

VIN order has nothing to do with "output from the line" order.
I believe our intrepid inside man also mentioned actual output right now was about 300 cars/day, due to parts availability and a very high level of quality checking going on, since this is a new design.
And that, fellow fans, is something to be happy about!
