Karpro,

Thanks for the info. I find your posts very useful and informative.

I was at my dealer last night and we were discussing the locking in you mention. She even had a term for it that slips my mind right now. She said that some dealers play the game where your order gets delayed for months and then they offer to sell you a stock one that is very similar for significantly more money. She said many people end up buying it because they simply get tired of waiting.

I'm still not clear on the allocation process. Are the allocations done for the upcoming 3/6 weeks? Are V6s and GTs separate? My dealer has been very forthcoming but they haven't been able to promise any date. I ordered last Thursday (10/7) and they submitted it that night. They said that it was the first GT that they ordered. As of today the order has not yet been pulled (hopefully next Thursday). My VOC has an Order No. L001 and Priority: 10. Another poster stated that they thought the L001 meant that it was the first GT ordered by the dealership. Is this true?

Thanks again for the info.
As far as the allocation process, our district rep comes in every 30-45 days and basically negotiates with us to sell us inventory. He wants us to buy 50 taurus' and 20 excursions for the next month and we want 5 but we want 20 stangs and 35 super duties, etc.. Once we come to an agreement we know what we will be able to order for those particular weeks. This is usually done about 60 days in advance of the actual allocation weeks. For example the vehicles we took on allocation this week might be for the orders pulling in the end of november or even early december.

As far as your order number that is really meaningless. We use I and a number, I123, etc for inventory units and V plus a number, V123 for sold orders. Just helps us and Ford keep each one seperate, but we could use any four digits as long as we don't currently have that number already in the order bank.

My understanding is that when it gets pulled (submitted to plant) the VIN is assigned. The Prioirty Code goes away since this was only used to decide which order gets pulled next.

That is correct

Kluski we both got our Vin's today and are at the same status. I ordered Sept 25. how about you? How long before the next step? Mine is a GT.
Actually, I ordered mine on Friday 10/15. Odd story. Had one ordered thru a different dealer 7/26. Had to the first dealer. Called around and found a second dealer who had this waiting for me. He said it is unclaimed, do I want it. So I said: "YES!!!!"

So I stumbled upon a GT order that already has a VIN.

I got my vin number today from my dealer. It was on his sheet on his friday report of last week. I ordered mine on 10/12, and it went in with a priority of 10. I totaly spaced on asking what my build date was but now that I think about it there was a message that said serial hold

Can someone please explain what serial hold is? It took my order guy by suprise. He had to dust off a big Ford manual and leaf through a bunch of pages trying to find what that code meant and it was nowhere to be found. So we asked a few of the other guys and no one knew.... so if anyone knows please let me know.

I cant wait to blow by my partners while they run radar and I pity the fool who tries to chase me down in their crown vic!!! :cop:

Anyways please shed some light if anyone can!

Gary

From the site's Dealer Status glossary:
. Your order has been assigned to the Serialized Order Bank pending resolution of a condition causing a tempory delay in production.
. Scheduled date will "T.B.D." (to be determined) until order is released from Serialized Order Bank.

I ordered on 9/16 and had a submitted to plant status and VIN assigned by the following Monday. I think my dealer had an adequate allocation to get to order in the system.

I've been calling him each week asking when I'd have a scheduled build week, and he told me on Friday the car was bucked already with an ETA of 10/30. Build completion was 10/15. I was kind of shocked the order process seemed to skip a couple of steps, but not disappointed. B) My last digits are 12150.

You defineately got lucky...good for you!

I called yesterday and they expect mine to pulled for production in 2 weeks. My dealership has an allocation of 1.2 GT's a week (The .2 means they get an extra one every 5 weeks).

That totally adds up, when I ordered I was the 6th GT on order, as of yesterday I was number 2 at the top of that list.

So based on all that I'll more than likely get a build date sometime in the middle of November, and delivery sometime in Decemeber.

my latest dealer statement I have full vin, but Temp hold on IUP package... I don't know how long the hold is going to be on the IUP package, but hopefully it will clear up... it's starting to look like my christmas stang is slowly becoming a new years stang... maybe even Valentine's day.

Not getting a warm feeling reading this thread.
I ordered on 10/5 and have no VIN.
I called Ford Cust. Rel. yesterday and they said the order had been
"accepted by the factory" or something like that on 10/14.
That make sense to anybody?

So then I call the dealer for the first time since I placed the order with them
and they said they have no update at all. I told 'em I'd be calling once a week.

Can I monitor the progress of my order any other way?
