Videos of Me and My 05 on the Track

Here are 3 videos of myself in my Stang, of course, at a couple of track events I had this summer. I made several people change their impression that a Mustang can only go in a straight line.

Enjoy !

Track: Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant, near Montreal

Here is one of my quickest laps during that weekend:

It wasn't the cleanest run but nevertheless ...

Here is also another lap chasing a F430 (ok he wasn't really pushing it but getting a pass-by from a Ferrari is alway fun ! ):

Track: Calabogie Motorsport Park, near Ottawa

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xW_QDoSEAI

First time on the track so I wasn't really quick ...

Haha rock on, you were kicking booty in that first video. It looked like the S197 was handling itself pretty well. How did it feel coming out of each turn?

That looks ridiculously fun. One day I'd like to get involved in track days like this, but for now, a little too rich for my blood...

The car is actually very stable and predictable ... much better than the SN95s I've owned in the past. Even though I have a -2 deg of camber, I would need an extra -1 to -1.5 deg to eliminate more understeer. I will look into buying the MM Camber/Caster plates this winter but boy are they expensive (especially compared to the SN95s)

The track is about 4 km long and it takes me about 2 min for a lap so ... 120km/h ... about 73-74 mph. I reach 205-210 km/h (125 mph) in the back stretch ... quite fun and fast !!! The HPDE school cost about $450 for a 2 day weekend and you get about 4x20mins sessions per day.

I made a bar with an ABS drain pipe with some aluminium brackets and screwed it in the clothes hanger supports. I then used a universal camera mount. See the pic attached

Yeah, that was last year ... I cut over 3.5 secs this year but still, 650HP even on a SN95 ... hard to keep up

The Cobra looked like he was slowing everyone he passed on the straits down when he hit a corner!

Cool video's, man I would love to do that in my car...don't think I'd do it with other cars on the track though, that'd freak me out.

I think the S197 handles better in twistys than SN95 Cobras even if they have IRS ... my instuctor had a 99 Cobra and was suprised how my car handled.

It is actually safer than passing cars on the road. You can only pass a car if he gives you a point-by and only on straights ... very safe !

I see you have the cervini duck tail, did you screw it in or just tape and how does it act on the track? I'm getting ready to install mine and don't want it comming off if I take it to a track.

I used the 3M double sided tape. I hadn't clean the ducktail enough before installing the tape to the ducktail and since it doesn't follow exactly the shape of the trunk it has come off a little bit near one of the corners. I would go for the tape ... no wind is strong enough to peel that sucker off ... even at 210 km/h !!!

Who has participated in schools like this with their S197 ? What are some of the modifications that has impacted positively the handling of your Stang ?

BTW, here is an aerial view of the track:

looks like a lot of fun. If you get a chance next time it would be cool to see the speedo for a lap or two.
