1. The burnout: when the tires lose grip and start spinning, the rear end starts sliding to the left, no matter the rpm, road surface, road inclination, etc. Could it be the differential?
You can see how I had to let off the gas a bit, to avoid going out of the road. :notnice:

2. The acceleration: from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) I counted a little less than 6 seconds on the video editing software. Not bad for the auto tranny + full gas tank, and no mods except HC trap removal

Link to video (994 kb, 36 seconds):

Enjoy!

That seemd ok from the video, which was awesome. It's normal for it to slide when the tires are just being lit, no traction to keep it straight like on rails.
At first I thought you got to 120mph that quick, but quickly realized it was kmh.
how much mileage on it?

I imported it to Holland through a Canadian dealer, I guess that's why the km/h display is larger than the mph. I wish this car could go as fast as 240 mph! :drive:

So far I have around 3200 km on it (2000 miles).

Thanks, I have another one which I have to edit, but it's a 26MB .mov file (for Quicktime) and I have no idea what video editor to use on that file type.

Have you driven a car with a posi rearend before? They always kick out to the side when the tires are spinning. It has to do with the play back and forth b/w the wheels trying to grip. I don't think there is anything wrong with your diff. It is the nature of a positraction rearend.

I thought as much, it's not my first RWD with LSD/posi. It's just that I never tried a burnout before owning this car, the low torque in my previous rides was definitely a turn-off.

I believe the term for it is torque steer? I believe that you can stabilize against this, the '93s used to be horrible for it ... so I have heard.

I could be wrong about the terminology

Torque steer is usually used when talking about front wheel drive. Don't think I've ever heard a term for a RWD car. The rear of the car is always going to lead one direction. The tires are sort of floating, and the slope of the road, or the tread design is going to cause a drift in one direction or another.

Letting the rear end step out is just too much fun! Just another reason RWD is far better than FWD.
