So I was at work today when my neighbor called me and said, "I don't know how to tell you this, but your windshield is smashed in." I had the cops drive by it to make sure no one could get in the car, then when I got home, called the cops again and they took a report.

Car was parked at a busy intersection in a nice residential neighborhood in Brooklyn (Park Slope, for those who know it). When I left at 9:00 this morning, she was fine. A doorman next door to me told me it was smashed when he got to work at 4:00 this afternoon. It was parked on the corner of a major road, where people are always walking and lots of cars go by every minute of the day. I don't see how this could have happened, but it did.

There were footprints on the hood, which means someone climbed on it and kicked the windshield in. The hood was not dented or otherwise damaged at all (thank god), so it must have been a light - even extremely light - person, i.e., a kid. Probably a group of little wannabe thugs with one of them wanting to impress the others. Man, if I could find the shoes that match these prints... holy he|| would there be broken legs.

Hoping to replace tomorrow. I called a mobile windshield place and they said I should be able to get it done tomorrow morning (which is good b/c I was supposed to be going somewhere tomorrow), and that, once installed, it only needs an hour to cure. They also said that it had the mustang on the windshield, i.e., was the same as the factory one, which was nice to hear - I thought I was going to lose my little fella there behind the mirror. The woman told me that people ask for the windshield with the pony on these so much, that they don't even make any other windshield for it, like a "generic" one or whatever - if you get this one replaced, it will come with another pony, like it or not. Cost ~ $370. Better than I expected, but I'd rather have painted, window louvres, a steeda triax . . .

The footprints.

You'd think that there would be someone that was a good samaritan at least use a camera phone and take pictures of the POSs.

You should wire your car with a taser battery, oh nevermind rubber soles.

Do you think a car cover would have been of any help?

Probably punks showing off in front of their loser girl friends.

Thanks for the support. It would be great if someone saw something and found me.

On a lighter note - the cops who came were pretty cool. One of them was asking me all about it, telling me about his '88 stang, saying he was trading in his Lincoln LS for the new stang, etc. We were talking mods and hp a bit, about the Cobra coming out next spring, etc. I told him about some of my mods, he asked if I had removed the cats. I told him no, and he was like, "ahhhh! Man, you gotta do that..." lol. Even if I had I'm not sure I'd tell a cop I wasn't street legal.

My deepest sympathies to you, that's just wrong. As a past cop my investigative thoughts would ask this question under the circum stances. The person must have been light weighing person to not have done any damage to the hood, so I ask this as I hope the officers who took the report may have also asked, but have you had any past problem of the female gender? Just something to think about. I just cant belive nobody saw anything thats BS!

That's great deduction! Frank Bullitt would be proud.

Read my first post! - I said b/c there was no dent must have been a light person, i.e. a kid. Seriously, look!

But, actually, the cop's didn't say that, although one of the cops was the first to notice the footprint. The photo of them made them actually come out better than I could see it up close, which is kind of cool.

btw - nah, wouldn't be a girl thing. lol. Not a girl I know who doesn't like me.

You might want to check with your insurance before having it replaced. State Farm just charges a $100 deductible to replace a windshield. I'm not sure what the policy is on vandalism vs rock on the freeway, but its worth checking out. You would have to get in contact with them before the work is done though.

What he said above.

I have Allstate with comprehention (sp) coverage for vandelism stuff like that. I have a $0.00 deductable on it.

Give them a call first.

BTW so sorry to see that happen to a beautiful car.

My wish still has not come true to have a car wired that if anything comes in contact with it, hit them with a few thousand volts.

It would be the last car they thought about touching
