Unhappy

This has probably been discussed. Why are there no 5 speeds available right now?

The brochure states that you can get the GT or V6 in either a 5 speed automatic or 5 speed standard. It would be a marketing disaster for Ford to change their product now.

No there is an issue with the V-6 manual transmission, they are only producing V-6's with automatics right now, there has been several posts on here about this, may find your answer with a quick search.

My apologies I did not realize that there was a problem with the V6 standard.

I may be wrong, but I believe the reason the 5 speed V6s aren't available yet is they're waiting a little bit before they start producing them. I think they basically wanted to get things up to speed and flowing smoothly. Same reason they're waiting til January 31st to start the convertibles. I just think it's interesting that in order to get a V6 '05, Ford is making you spend the extra $1000 or so for an automatic. They just as easily waited on the automatics instead of the 5 speeds. Almost like they're trying to make an extra $1000 on people who want the V6 now instead of waiting a little while.

It might be worth the wait......

On page 122 of Matt DeLorenzo's Mustang, a New Breed of Pony Car, he quotes Ford's Chief Engineer Thai-Tang as saying that the V6 is a real sleeper in the Mustang line.

"The V-6 manual is also a really nice package as far as performance feel" Thai-Tang notes, "The transmission's internals have been changed with more precise machining of the gear set to provide smoother operation."

When equipped with this upgraded Tremec T-5 five-speed manual (ironically, the internals are the same ones that were previously used on the Chevy Camaro), the V-6 can be a hoot to drive. It's fairly quick and predictable like it's GT sibling.

Sounds like it might be worth at least test driving a five speed V6 to see how it is?

If I recall from a previous article on this forum there was a problem with a clamp for the transmission but not sure if it related to the automatic or the standard.

Well typically the majority of V-6's are automatics. Those that buy the V-6 are not concerned as much with the performance and prefer an automatic for daily driving.

So, can we expect 5-speed on V6 after Chrismas?

There are no problems with the manual V6. It was held back like the convertible. Ford decided to make the most popular selling vehicles first. That would be the V6 auto, not the manual. But it is scheduled to start production on Nov 29 (I think). Therefore with the holiday closings, it might show up before X-mas, but after would be more relaistic.

I've posted on the site trying to find out when I can expect my v6 manual. No VIN, but got a call from my dealer who ordered me the same car in automatic "just in case" I couldn't wait. It's already here, I told him I really wanted the manual and to sell the car if he can, but he said he'll wait till I can come and see it. So I'll check it out thursday.

It's gonna be hard, but I can't do the v6 without the manual.
It's a black, dark charcoal interior, premium v6.

I guess people are going crazy over the automatic he has. Oh well, I waited this long, I can wait another month?...

I can't agree more. My left leg is twitching now in anticipation of my new manual car. I am so tired of my current car shifting at the wrong time.
