We have a club member at CVMC who has a 2005 Sonic Blue Mustang GT. The owner told me he ordered the car in July 2004.

What is unusual is that the car has "Cloth Front Seats" and "Leather Back Seats"

I have a question for ya'll. Has anyone ever heard of such a combo done on purpose or by accident?

this had to be a boo boo at the factory

one of our members had his two front seats messed up, one was a pleated leather seat from a GT, the other a leather seat from a V6

Somebody sure was not paying attention during that build, delivery and sale.

Actually the owner wanted the IUP but he wanted cloth seats. I believe back in July of 2004 the Dealer may not have known how to right the order correctly and may have said "Cloth Front Seats" thus would explain why the weird combo.

So this may not be a Factory, Dealer or Owner mistake. He may have got exactly what he asked for. He just may not have expressed it the right way

He has talked about replacing the rear seats with cloth. I told him he ought to keep it just the way it is. It makes people notice it and scratch their heads.

I would get one or the other swapped. It may make the car 'unique' but it probably killed the cars resale value if left that way. I don't think the factory would have a code for 2 different types of seats either. That almost has to be a mistake.

This is definitely a mistake. There's no option to choose two different seat surfaces.

have him post his vin over at blueovalforums and ask Kzinti (in ford employees/mustang order thread) for a final build report- should show what was supposed to be there...sounds like a 'shiftchange' type of error to me.
Dont see how it coulda happened though, as my seat bags had the vin number/barcodes attached- so I believe each build part must be tagged, and barcodes checked off as it rolls down the line...maybe the supplier bagged the wrong seats? who knows...

hehe, its not like they accidently put a V8 in his V6....

its a seat.
Anyone could change that...anytime.

I could change it myself and say its rare and get money for it?
Probably not worth any more

I would think it would make the car worth even less. Who wants a care with interior seats that do not match.

Yep. That was me. The dealer has since installed a new seat cover in it.

I have to agree with John. Who would want that? I'd have been complaining like crazy to make them match it up right.

That combination is how law enforcement units come equipped -- cloth front, vinyl rear. Can't say I've seen any specially outfitted 05/06 'Stangs set up for police use -- guess this one missed its calling.
Seriously, it's hard to imagine the factory not noticing this odd combination unless they thought it was a special order. In that case, it would roll out just as ordered even if workers thought it was crazy. Who knows???? Add blue lights, radio, and siren -- have fun. (joke joke joke)

Rare and valuable come from options seldom ordered, liked the famous backlit ponies on some of the 60's Mustang grilles. Or KK code engines. Not interior fabric booboos.

That reminds me of a statement I heard when I was restoring an early model Mustang. Having a rare color or option combo only means that nobody liked it back then either.
