Question

...can it be true?

The dealership called today to give a weekly update on my order (and to wish a Merry Christmas). He said that my order was still submitted to the factory and showing no delays or conflicts. Still no build date or VIN... but no problems are showing either. After reading about all the issues with the IUP I was a bit shocked. I was fully expecting to be in the 18G/18R boat. I filled him in on what I have heard and he said that they have not gotten any word... and said the system informs them of any problems and as of today, my order is still clear. Did I dodge a bullet or am I getting fed a line? My family has bought many cars from this dealership and have always gotten good and honest service... so I am inclined to believe him. It's a small dealership in a small town and I was the first '05 order there. Maybe place in line has something to do with the order conflicts. It seems they have had another one or two orders since... and none have shown up to have any problems.

I'm not gloating... just trying to shed more light and get more info on this IUP delay.

I am getting that exact same story from my dealer (so far anyway). I ordered Thanksgiving weekend. They told me they were substituting my order for an allocated order they had already made, so maybe my order was a change to an order that was already in the system? Like you, I am just keeping my finger crossed on the IUP thing!
Good luck to both of us,
Clay

Exclamation

I ordered my 05 Thanksgiving week also. I called the 1-800-392-3673 (Ford Customer Service Number) and was told to call back mid-January as the order had been "accepted" but no build date was yet scheduled. I also ordered the IUP and I am keeping my fingers crossed no issues will surface.

Only other issue I am aware of is I heard the next run of 5 speeds is not until late January. I also ordered the 5 speed, so I am expected a March or April delivery. What were guys told?

Thanks,
Beckie

Hmm I ordered 11-29 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed even though the automated number says it's on hold

Every Mustang We have on Order At My Dealership Had to either delete the 18g Package or Change it to the 18r Package in order to be Scheduled any time Soon! Ck with them on Friday Morning and ask Again! All Order Changes Are Done Thursday Evening! Make SURE 18g Is listed on Your Order! If they are open Friday That is! GOOD LUCK!

My dealer said orders usually take 6 to 8 weeks, but due to the demand on the car he hesitated to guess on a timeframe. The fact he wouldn't toss out a date, gives him some credit in my book. Seems to be as much rumors and misinformation inside the dealerships as there are online! I don't think the dealers know when Ford pulls orders based on supply... I think they speculate as much as we do. They just know when the system shows holds/conflicts on orders.

Looking over my paperwork, I'm getting the impression I may have an allocated order as well. I wonder what that means when it comes to the IUP issues.

I ordered on 11/22/04 and it says that I've got a compatibility error but I'm just going to wait for the IUP issue to be settled.

I spoke to my dealer's GM last week, and he said only 30% of his Mustang orders are GT's, so this could make the wait longer.

"in order to be Scheduled any time Soon"

This is the operative phrase - if it doesn't matter that the car is delayed there doesn't seem to be any reason to reorder it without IUP. My V6 has been on hold for the IUP and manual tranny for months but after asking my dealer again this morning he reassured me that the order is there waiting release of the held items and will then be built as ordered. Delivery may not be till Feb but as long as I receive what I ordered that's fine with me.

My dealer has cancelled and reordered several cars to bring them in without IUP and even those are not showing up quickly. I'll wait.

i got the compatibility error for a while, and then it changed back to "clean & unscheduled" soooo... i'm hoping for a feb build date. Ordered 11/15 but dealer submitted on 11/23... it will be the dealer's first (and only so far) '05 GT... so i'm hoping it will get pulled soon. = screaming yellow GT premium, IUP, side airbags, anti-theft, upgrade wheels, shaker 1000

I also ordered the week of Thanksgiving. Order was accepted on 11/30. Called the automated line and it said as of Jan. 3 my order is "clean and unscheduled" and "not serialized at this time". No holds. Crossing my fingers, toes, eyes and anything else.
