I finally got mine fixed today and it works really well. No more clunking!

I took mine in yesterday, they have the parts on order, they will give me a call when the parts come in so I can bring my car back. Mine doesnt clunk but there is like a rubbing sound on the left side and a click on the right.

Well all is well now. They replaced without even diagnosing it. Ordered parts, told me to come in, put them on. Whats even more awesome is that my service mgr. which I am starting to become freinds with, asks if I have the fuel filling problem. I tell him yes, sometimes. Sometimes it fills great, sometimes it doesnt without a lot of fenagling with the pump. He says no problem, tells the service writer to order me a tank. So again with out any diagnosis they are ordering the new fuel tank. Hopefully it takes care of that problem. Another few visits and this car will be perfect. No more popping noise, that is the important thing. Good luck to all having this happen or done on your car.

I got asked about the fuel fill..
I opted to keep mine and avoid Race Trac stations which is the only place I have the problem.

I'm trying to get this problem fixed but I don't want to take my car in and get diagnosed for some problem that I already know the solution to. I tried to explain this to a couple of local dealers but they insist that the ford way is to not order the parts until someone looks at the problem.

Is there a secret to this for the people that are bypassing this step? I just want them to order the parts so I don't have to take my car in and have them say what the problem is and wait weeks for the parts to come in.

Dude seriously, just take the technician for a 5 second drive around the parking lot, you know it will pop at least once at low speeds.

I just ordered parts for my car today. I'm fixing the front end popping, replacing the Shaker1000 with a new unit, and there's also a bulletin for a rear axle whine that my car is also making. I work at a Lincoln-Mercury dealer and my boss had no problem with writing a repair order and letting me order the parts.
