This has happened twice now in the last two weeks, thought it was a fluke the first time but it just happened again so I thought I see if it has happened to any of you. While driving my trunk has poped open, it hasnt flown wide open just unlatched and the trunk ajar warning appears on the console. What up with that? Anyone else even hear about this, its wierd, nothing in my trunk the first time (except the california duster and detail spray.)

thats what I thought happened the first time since I wasnt paying too much attention to the keys, but tonight that definately wasnt the case and I always get an extra clicking sound after having shut the trunk shortly after driving a bit like it is relocking or something (sounds like automatic door locks when you reach a certain speed). Ill have to take it in.

I noticed that twice, wasn't sure if I hit the button by mistake, but the second time I know I didn't hit the button

is there something in your trunk that is grabbing the emergency latch in the truck, I had that happen to me a couple times, my softball bag kept getting caught on that latch that you use in case a kid gets stuck in the trunk or something, just moved the bag into the bag seat, problem solved!

I had this happen to me a couple of times also. First time I had a bag in the trunk that I thought caught the trunk release inside. The next time it happened I thought I hit the trunk button on the keyfab with my knee.
Also when I shut the truck I am getting an extra clunk sound like something is hitting the inside of the trunk. It sounds to loud to be the plastic handle release.
This happened when I would get on it from the start.

If its the trunk release, y'all realize there's a piece of velcro-like material on the trunk door itself for the handle to be affixed to?

I've had this happen a few times too, but I think it has been due to something else on my keychain hitting the release button on the keyfob. It has always happened within a mile after taking off, but usually within about a block. Also, the velcro thing for the emergency release handle is kind of cheesy and doesn't hold well.

I have not had that problem. I once did not closed my trunk very well, trying not to leave any fingerprints, I then could not open the trunk until I pushed it all the way closed.
User error on my part.
Nut loose in front of the steering wheel??

Never had that happen, but I do find it odd that you can release the trunk without the car being in PARK. My other vehicles would not allow the trunk release while the car was in drive.

But didnt your notification come on that your trunk was ajar?

I have had the trunk pop open when a box inside the trunk pulls the latch.

I didn't know that?????
I will try that and also try the trunk release when the car is in gear to see if it works.

This has actually happend to me. While driving in Tampa my trunk just popped open. BUT the one thing I did notice is that I was driving by a car detailing shop. So I kinda thought that maybe someone hit a key fob with the same code or something. It has only happend to me once and it really freaks you out. Luckily I was at a stop sign so I was able to get out and close my trunk. I didnt have anything in the trunk either that could hit.

ok maybe it is a fluke but maybe it isnt, dont you think there are way too many of us having the same exact problem? for fast is everyone going when this has occured, mine is when I am moving slow, about to pull in somewhere and park or almost home as last night, I will try the velcro thing, but if it happens again I am taking it in. It did appear in the message center, and nothing was in the trunk.

It's your trunk monkey pulling the emergency release, he needs more air!
