Thumbs down Transmission help

Does anyone one know of, or seem anything to do with a transmission recall or something like this?

I ask because I started my 07 Mustang today (its really cold out) and heard a loud BANG.
Looked under and tranny fluid was pouring out.

My brother took a closer look and apparently my transmission cracked and blew out one of the piston head covers. So now I need a whole new transmission. Just my luck.

I am going to try and call Ford to see if they are able to do anything.
Just want to know if anyone seem anything or has any tips of what I can do.

thanks.

yes I am beyond pissed off, but what can I do.

I don't know about anyone else, but I probably will not sleep much tonight over this. All this time and I had no idea transmissions had pistons.

I feel ya man, gosh

I think you are on the right track. Get it towed to your dealer. Unless you have some extended warranty though, you may have to actually pay to fix this yourself.

good luck

dealership will be the highest priced place to go. I would find a good trans shop and give them a call. You could probably get a used trans from the bone yard.

I'll echo this on both points. (Not sure if you have a manual or auto, but I have seen a couple manual transmissions on Craigslist for around $400.)

Sucks to hear man, hope you can get it back ready to run again soon.

Thanks for the input. I was going to call the dealership today to see what they can do for me. If not I was just going to buy a used one and get it installed.
Good thing my brother is a certified mechanic!

I believe they are the same automatic transmission. They used two different manual transmission though. Let me check my repair manual when I get home. Some one else might chime in before that though.

According to my repair manual. All automatics from 05-10 use the 5R55S.

Now, I cannot verify that the gear ratios for each gear are them same, but my manual does not state that they are different.
