Texas snow and ice have put my 2005 stang in the body shop for who knows how long. I was driving on I-35 North at 40mph when i hit a patch of ice then did a few 360's went off the road, down a hill and into some small trees. The damage wasn't too bad just the front bumper and 3 fenders as far as i can tell. Not bad enough for the airbags to go off but it still pisses me off. If those trees hadn't of been there im pretty sure that there would be no damage what so ever. At least I didn't hit any other cars, I can't wait for the pos rent car that awaits me for the next few weeks. There was an explorer that ran off the road also but it rolled the whole way down, it was in pretty bad shape.

Ow.
Glad you are fine. Sad your pony isnt.

Thats coming here, so mine is parked and the keys put away so I don't befall the same fate. I fishtailed a little today, and that was MORE than enough.

Sorry to hear that, man. Glad you're okay though.

Methinks the pony is better left parked when the snow and heavy ice hit. That much power + RWD + light in the rear = major risk on the roads.

Reminds me of a buddy of mine who had a car with the exact same type of setup many years ago. He got immobilized in bad weather many times and I had to come bail him out with my front wheel drive four-banger!

I drove mine today from East Texas to Dallas. I live North of Dallas in Highland Village. The roads were fine until I got to Dallas. There were wrecked cars everywhere. The bridges had a thin coat of ice on them, and people were loosing control because you could not tell there was ice. I slowed down when I came to a bridge let off the gas and let momentum take me accross and I did not have any problems. The temp tonight is supposed to be in the 20's You can bet the stang will stay in the stable tomorrow. I am glad you are o.k. I am sure they will make your stang look brand new. Just the waiting for the repairs to get done is going to stink!

For some reason they didn't think it was neccesary to sand the roads and bridges, this happened in Denton there are accidents all over the place. I'm going to drive it over to the Ford place tomorrow the roads should not be so bad tomorrow.

Y'all know how it is around here. They never think about sanding the roads until it's too late. Maybe they have a wreck quota to meet before they think"SAND". Sorry to hear about your car Mr.Pickles but I'm glad you weren't hurt.

black ice always gets you,

as long as you can walk away from an accident, count your blessings.

Glad to hear you're Ok. The car can be repaired easier than you can.

I'm from the Northeast so we're used to that kind of weather.
But we lived in Chapel Hill North Carolina for a year. Almost dead center of North Carolina. They got 12" of snow in 24 hours and lost their minds.

Experienced similar conditions coming up 75 north of Dallas about 2 hours ago. All bridges were iced, cars sliding across bridges followed by a few bumps & spin outs.

For Doug's benefit, ice and snow are quite rare in North Texas, but when it happens it is usally a big mess because no one knows how to drive in it (even people from up north forget) and no one seems responsible for deciding when to sand the bridges. Some towns don't even have sanding equipment.

Firstly, as everyone else has said, good job surviving, thats pretty important.

And secondly, this might be a good excuse to get that 3DCarbon, Saleen, or CDC front airdam you know youve been wanting.....(other than that small fact that these products arent available yet)

Glad you are okay, but this is precisely the reason mine stays in the garage this itme of year. If it wasn't me going off the road, someone else would target me. I'd rather not run the risk.

I just left dallas this morning to go to houston and saw 4 nascar style into the wall crashes within a 3 mile stretch starting at I 30 and going south on I45. heck, even rain in dallas turns most people into idiots on the roads.

I didnt even try to get on the road with my GT and I live just north of Dallas.
Actually it looks like we have quite a few 05s in the dallas area. We should get all the 05s together one day and go for a cruise or hang out at one of thelocal spots to give some locals something to talk about.
show off!
