Traded my '06 GT auto for an '07 GT manual

Should have never bought the automatic in the first place, poor decision on my part. Traded my black '06 GT for a Grabber Orange '07 GT. The new one was cheaper than my old one, has less miles (52K) and is a year newer. It does have cloth interior, but I don't mind it. If I can find leather seats from a wrecked Mustang or cheap leather seat covers, I'd probably go for it though. The Grabber Orange is a pretty cool color. It stands out for sure, but I don't think it's too over the top. I just washed it this morning and forgot how nice it is not to own a black car. I won't miss that at all. Black looks so nice when it's clean, but it's too much of a headache to keep it looking that way...and I washed mine once a week.

The stick shift is much more fun to drive than my automatic. Throttle response seems better, too. I'm no pro at driving a stick, but compared to the older cars I learned on, the Mustang seems pretty forgiving. Clutch is slightly heavy, but nothing unmanageable. Feels nice overall. Only mod I've done so far is changed the shift **** to one from a 2010 GT. It came with a K&N CAI, HID headlamps, blacked out pony emblem and GT badges and a blackout panel in the back. I think I'm going to replace those with the stock chrome badges and I need to get new center caps for the wheels. The Ford logo is worn off on 3 out of the 4 wheels? Odd, but not a big deal. I don't plan to do any major mods to it. That's what I did with my last car and I ended up regretting most of the changes. Just a few small changes to spruce up the interior and probably a tune and I should be set. Here are a couple pics from after I washed it this morning.

Yeah, the front plate law is so stupid. Ruins the look of almost every car. There are some light scratch marks behind the license plate, so I ordered some touch up paint to fix that. I'll probably order a set of bumper plugs after I do that and then just keep the plate in the glovebox or the trunk. If I get pulled over for not having it on, it's just a fix it ticket.

Thanks guys. So I thought I read something on here about Ford upgrading the shifters on the '07 Mustangs, but only after a certain build date? Any truth to that?

I have been doing this for years. I hate having the front plate on and haven't had it on my past 3 cars (even though it is required here)... I was pulled over once (at the airport of all places) for no front plate, but he got called away before being able to write a ticket. *whew*

I bought an '06 auto and half the reason I ended up buying my '13 was to get back into a manual transmission car. It was fine for a few years, but the itch kept growing! And I am glad I made the switch!

Great looking car too!

Same story here, same color, but two less cylinders, (and my new one cost me more money, you made out well!) I had an '06 Pony Package with the auto trans, and recently traded it in for an '09 Pony Package with standard trans, also in Grabber Orange. It is such a great color, and I love it. Of course, like you said, I shouldn't have bought the auto in the first place, I never did like auto transmissions in a sporty/sports car. Funny, but my old car had the leather interior as well, and my new one has cloth, too...

Did you keep the 19"s from the old car to put on this one?

I know the Bullitt shifter was improved for 08 but that other thread the guy noted they were offered in late 07 across the GT line. Seems like he posted pics that verified. Try search.

Very nice! I love the 5 speed in mine as well. I have auto transmissions in my other two cars so this GT is really different and a lot of fun. I just leave it at home when I know I will be heading into heavy city traffic (Atlanta). That's when shifting gets old real quick.

No, I didn't. I actually prefer the look of the stock wheels. Like I said before, I did a bunch of changes to my '06 and just regretted all of them. I fell in love with the stock 05-09 design years ago and that's really what I like. Just went overboard with installing new stuff.

Yeah, I have a little Saturn SL1 that I use to run errands or to drive when I know we are going somewhere with no parking or tons of traffic. I only put about 5000-6000 miles a year on my Mustang.
