Ok the Local AutoDealer has a 2006 Mustang GT Black (Red Leather Interior, Shaker 1000, 18' Bullits, Exterior Sport Package) for 26,000.. I have a 2005 Mustang V6 Black (Shaker 500 Chacoal Interior, Exterior Sport Pck) Well the Salesmen said my cars Trade in Value could be worth 19,000. So is a good Possibility I could do a Trade In... But I have 2 Questions.. How much does it Take to Fill up a GT & how Many times a week. Note Daily Driver... & My Second Question, how much of an increase compared the the v6?
Also Take Note: My Stang has 15,000 Miles...

If you're not IN LOVE with your v6, get the GT. I really love mine. As for MPG I don't live in a CITY, more like a town-not a lot if stop and go or long periods of idle. Around town it's 17-17.5, some town some hwy it's 18-19, straight hwy-over 200 miles w/o really stopping was just over 22. I drive somewhat fast and can't help but take off quick! These cars are amazing!

 

When I bought my 2005 I was thinking of getting a GT but decided to get another V6.

The GT is definately faster and way more powerful but I figured I can get a speeding tick in my V6 just as easily as a V8, only differance is it will cost a LOT less...

 

why not just spend some money on a body kit for the V6 and some performance mods. You'd end up saving some cash in the end.

 

Most would say "trade it in" I LOVE my V6, would never trade it in, my next one will be a GT (maybe...) but I would say don't trade it in, get some mods start with your exhaust, the sound will give you the thrill and some extra HP. Thats what I would do/am doing.

 

Before you do this, check with your auto insurance agent first, so that you will know what your ownership cost will be. Personally, my insurance would have been a mess if I hadn't rid myself of my old 1988 GT. With a teenage driver, a new GT would be about $2,300 per 6 months, while the V6 is just $457 per 6 months.

 

Curious the 06 GT you are describing is $30,000 (26K+895+1295+175+460+720) and they are willing to sell it to you for $26,000 with 18" bullits..red icap..and shaker 1000...?? Seems to be a good deal...

Considering Sticking with My V6.. I dunno I guess the GT would have more of a Thrill but me & my little girl have bonded a little bit. :S So... Why such a tough decsion.

 

That 06 GT does seem to be a great deal. Almost too good .

 

Count on 15/22 mpg.

 

Wait Until you talk real numbers and he sells it to you on lower monthly payments---for two more years. He probably just wants to sell another car,not help you out. :nono: The numbers are off the top of his head,not real. :notnice:

The numbers do not sound right. The Kelley Blue Book value on a V6 hardtop w/ 15k miles is 15,600.00 assuming "excellent" condition, but that is probably two grand over what a dealership will allow for trade-in. I know, depressing, isn't it? The dealerships don't use Kelley, they use another book who's name escapes me, but it is ALWAYS well below Kelley values. The selling price of the '06 sounds low too as 2006GTD said. I agree with Karman, they're just trying to lure you into the closing room.

 

I just ran the KBB numbers on my vert, even with ICAP, IUP, EAP, leather, etc. and being a vert it doesn't even make 19K for trade-in value. Argh! Value has dropped 10k in less than a year. I'm losing 1k per month, at this rate I'll have to pay someone to take it in a couple of years

Well you should check to see what the differance will be for insurance for yourself plus the extra gas expence and run the math and see it that is do-able for you,not to mention a possibility of higher payments for the GT if you take out a loan.

If you think you can handle that and the car is everything that you want (color and interior ,etc) then go for it.

If one of those things aren't do-able don't bother remember thats your paycheck in the driveway and you better be happy with it and the payments.

 

I drove my GT from St. Louis to Madison, WI-that is a full tank, flat interstate cruise control and the computer said 22MPG both up and back.

This week I have a 4cyl. HHR and the computer says 26, :notnice: same trip, not enough of a difference when your using the wind for acceleration.

Also, last week a co-worker had a V6 rental and I thought the GT was much better.

 

I'm voting go for the GT under those terms. Give it a shot, but be prepared to walk out when the numbers quickly change. In other words: Go for it, but don't get your hopes up.

 

I got 19K for my V6 when I traded it in Sept 05 but it only had right at 7K miles. Good Luck, I have not at all regretted my decision to trade up.

 

IMHO: You bought a GREAT car w/ you V6. Even IF the numbers were true the salesman gave you:

26,000 -- New GT (DONT forget you have to repay SALES TAX on top
of this, plus your dealer may charge $50 -- $500
on top of THAT for 'documentation'.)
19,000 -- Trade in
--------
7,000 out the window so far.

Based on your options it sounds like
you paid probably $21K+ for your car
when new PLUS sales tax and dealer doc
fee. So --


7,000 -- trade-up cost BEFORE depreciation.
2,000 -- conservative guesstimate of depreciation of what you paid when new
-------
9,000 --- MINIMUM!

9,000 is JUST NOT worth another 75 horses at the rear wheel!!. Stock GT's produce approx 265 RWHP and Stock V6 approx 185 -- based on
'baseline dynoes' posted all through these forums

My suggestion:

$500 -- spend this on high quality performance tires that fit your 16"
Rims. I suggest Bridgestone Potenza RE750's -- unless you live
in snow country. tirerack.com
$350 -- Rear SwayBar. Ford Dealer Parts Dept.
$800 -- Xcal2 Tuner, Steeda CAI from brenspeed.com And Borla/FRPP
Axleback Exhaust from v6mustangstuff.com. This exhaust
sounds AWSOME

These upgrades will make your car handle like a whole new vehicle!
Your car will have a whole new character ! These mods will keep your factory warranty intact (Steeda CAI can be swapped out for stock airbox in about 15 mins if your nervous about this.. Muffler has no bearing at all since its just axleback) and your car running strong.

No v6 hate here, but every time I see a v6 driving down the street, I thank my lucky stars that I'm sitting in my GT. GT is truly where it's at when it comes to performance.
