TPMS ? on Tire and Wheel Switch 2016 to 2009 Mustang
I have a 2009 Ford Mustang Base Convertible with the V6. I have upgraded from the 2009's 16" wheels and tires to a 2016 Mustang GT 18" wheels and tires. I have problems with the TPMS icon illuminated on the dash which does not provide anything other than the icon. I have done all the retraining of the TPMS sensors per the instructions on different sites as well as YouTube without success. I used the Motorcraft retraining tool, but none of the wheels have acknowledged the training with the beep of the horn.. I have seen that Ford changed the TPMS sensor after 2014 to display individual tire pressures on the dash and am guessing that this is my problem. If I replace the TPMS in the 2016 wheels with 2009 sensors, will this solve the problem or do I need to do something else. Help.

Hi Ken -- I think I replied to your thread on the other board also . . .
My understanding is the TPMS systems were changed in 2010 and again in 2015. The later sensors will not work with the earlier systems, and vice versa.
So yes, you need sensors that are compatible with the 2009 system, and I think that will solve the problem (and I'm pretty sure they will need to be synched)

Yes the 2009 system will only work with the sensors from 2005-2009.
