I went down to see if the Red/White SEMA stang was done... its not. In fact, its up on a lift getting custom brakes on it, the rest of the body kit still being painted and finishing touches put on it. Whipple is coming out tomorrow or Friday to drop the supercharger in it, and it'll be done. No pics, sorry, not while its up on the lift!

Meanwhile, I asked about the Yellow GT for SEMA, and its in bakersfield getting its body kit, and Whipple is out there putting its supercharger in it. I wont get to see that one, its going straight to Vegas.

I hunted down the guys from 3D Carbon, found them at Lanzini Body Works, the guys doing the paint jobs, on the White GT, and the Red/White GT.

What I DID get to see and take pics of was the car that I understood to be the Cobra Prototype. This is the way it was explained to me: Its an 05 Prototype that they got 4 months ago. They dropped a Cobra R engine into it, and it is now going to be a Toyo Racer. When I got to Lanzini's, the guys from 3D were ripping off rocker panels. I grabbed a few pics of the engine, inside, and one of the exterior. The exterior doesnt look much different than the other 05s, when the body kit is done I will go back and get more pics.

So, kind of sad I didnt get to see the red/white one done, but, I got my Stang fix for the day. I lost my server, so if someone can take these pics from me to upload, I would be very appreciative!

incorrigible, they are getting down to the last minute... but, I bet these guys are going to be working 24 hours shifts to get it done. They are scheduled to have them all finished on Friday, and on trucks Saturday. Dunno!

Heck SEMA is so close, they have until what, Monday morning. Lots of room to spare. ;-) Glad to get the clarification on the Cobra-R motor in the 2005 thing.

Blue rims Um, yeah...

Also, if it has a Cobra R supplying the horses, will the hood have a bulge or will the '05 be able to house it normally?

Galaxie, I wish I could tell by looking. I am telling you what they told me, so if they lied, then they lied...

They are keeping the hood on it thats there now. But, I didnt ask, so I am guessing. I swear I think I need to ask you guys for a list of questions before I go! LOL Always seems to be something I miss... sigh.

I asked them if they could install an Emergency Stop button my 05 when I get it, and they just laughed, and then asked, "Do you need one???" I dunno, I might... ::giggle::

Yeah thats an 03/04 cobra crate motor. Far from an 00 cobra R motor.

K, so here is my question... is it possible that thats not the final engine? The only reason I ask, is because these guys have been way cool to me, and have been pretty straight up about everything. Letting me take pics, and post them, touch and sit in these cars that most people arent even getting to get close to.

At any rate, I am still stoked to be getting some behind the scenes looks at these cars, especially the red/white one. BTW, the wing in person doesnt look half as big and gaudy as it does in the pic. They were buffing it out when we got there.

Why would they want to swap in another engine? I just don't see any point in taking an 05 GT, swapping out the 3-valve 4.6, for a blown 03/04 4v 4.6L Cobra motor, and swapping it again for a 5.4L Cobra R? Makes no sense whatsoever! I'm not trying to flame you or anything, but I think these guys are just yankin your chain.

Jessica, could be just an honest mistake on their part.

Cobra R motors are VERY hard to come by, I doubt they even have spare engines lying around.

That motor appears to fit nicely under the stock hood. It looks like it has more clearance than the 3 valve.

I highly doubt they put a 2000R motor in there for one fact. Ford will not make anymore intake or head castings for that motor. The closest they could come is get a 5.4: navigator motor and custom fab an intake. Ford only made a certain amount of intakes and it was just enough to cover a few warrenty repairs for the 300 R's that were produced and sold.

I have seen one 2000R engine for sale, it was on ebay and the buyitnow was $45,000. I highly doubt they go that route, but it would be bling bling.

Thanks for the excellent pics and info. Perosnally, racers are not my thing. I want a car that I can drive comfortably day to day. Ricarro's hold you in during a race, but day to day would be annoying. So fun to see what they do, but not my thang.
