I run my fogs and don't get flashed too often, and have never been pulled over for it. Then again I have the HID's so the color between the 2 sets is a bit different.

To me, the HID's seem dimmer and the fogs throw off more light. Definately need both!

I get flashed CONSTANTLY by peeps because of this. I always just flash them right back so they can see how blinding the real hi-beams are.

I have never had any blinding issues with fellow mustangs either. Some people are just

I have OEM HID's and when I have used the fogs I can count on some cars to flash.

At this point I reserve the right to show them what real hi-beams are

Yeah.. happens to me too.

I always flash back to show them that yes, it gets brighter.

If I'm irritated, I hold the high beams down until I pass them. I'm a jackass.

I've been flashed when I had my fogs on. What always used to bother me was that if you flash your brights back at them - your foglights turn off. To me, this seemed to validate the other driver's (incorrect) assumtion that my brights were on. (He sees four lights - flashes me - and I respond by turning off the fogs...even if the two remaining lights are VERY bright - I still thought it was confusing. What I wanted to do was flash my high beams back AND still keep the fogs on. ...so, many thanks to this forum, I found a thread detailing the fix. Here's the link if you're interested: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...HTS+HIGH+BEAMS

Bottom line is that Ford screwed this one up...all they had to do was make the standard bulbs a little less brighter and there wouldn't be any confusion as to what they were...or just make them yellow like most of the fog lights used to be in the late 60's...however, the fact that most people put them on ALL the time (because they have them) doesn't help either.

The fog lights are adjusted pretty low at the factory. The reason people flash their high beams is they think you have your high beams on (4 headlamps). Switch all 4 (low/fogs) to HIDs and watch the number of high beam flashes reduce to zero. The Cadillac Escalade's HID is a blinding white light (do not start at them directly... ever) yet it's street legal. I say screw the haters - keep the fogs on. It will just make the S197 Mustang all the more unique.

My fogs were aimed high from the factory and I was getting flashed all the time. I lowered them a bit and now I never get flashed.

I get flashed once in a while. usually by someone with those super bright high beams, the kind that light up the entire inside of your skull. My retina's, my retina's, my poor retina's

That is the best solution. People used to flick their highbeams at me thinking my foglights were highbeam until I covered them with amber/yellow lens covers (part 055-781):

http://www.mossmuscle.com/Shop/ViewP...34&SortOrder=2

Since then, no one has ever flicked their highbeams at me At first, I really wasn't a fan of the amber look but they do seem appropriate with the S197's retro styling (afterall many sportscars from the 60's and 70's had 4" amber fog lights).

Just get a surefire G2 flashlight that takes the cr123 batteries and the 120 lumen lamp, and flash that into their cockpit as the drive past. They'll think that a nuke went off. Even in the day it is too painful to look at directly. I always wanted the landing lights from a 747 on a car to flash back too.

I have had my GT for 4 years now. At first it was a slight problem but people now know they aren't "High Beams"
There is no reason for them to be flashing their lights at you. I pass 2-3 GTs every morning with theirs on and it doesn't even shine up at all. Some drivers just think they are the self appointed "Road Police" and have a problem sharing the road with others. They need to keep their eyes on the road ahead of them and quit worrying about what everyone else is doing.

I use my low beams for day and night driving as a force of habit from my dad back in the day. I rarely use my fogs unless I'm going through a certain tunnel here in Vegas. I plan on getting a SGT billitt grill anyways. I dont know if ill miss the fogs that much.

Same here, but in Pennsylvania, this grill is "technically" illegal, as the lights are too close, center-to-center. But none of the cops or inspection places really know this, so its not a big deal. Haven't had any "real" run-ins yet.

I've found I have grown fond of the amber "Showlenses" although some say they scratch the main lens. I personally have not had this happen and have been on my ride for over 20K of driving in all conditions...

I never get flashed, but then again, my fogs "look like fogs"...

Those are my DRIVING LIGHTS with my HIGH BEAMS

My car is set up so the bright driving lights only come on with the high beams.
They are even brighter than the highs are.
I love the feeling of daylight on the back country roads at night.
If I get flashed, I deserve it.
