Those are my FOG LIGHTS, not my HIGH BEAMS

Has this happened to anyone else?? I like to drive with fog lights on with my low beams, it gives me more light. people driving past me flash thier high beams at me like I have mine on , but they're not, it's just my fog lights.

Then this morning goinng home from work, a very dense fog everywhere, I have my low beams and fog lights on, I see a motorcycle cop ahead and slow down. He puts on his blue flashers , lets me go by and pulls me over. After looking at my drivers license, etc, he says he pulled me over because he thought I had my high beams on.So he asks me to put my high beams on, and yeah when the high beams come on, the fog lights turn off, like all Fords do. He says, well theirs more light that way( low beams and fog lights) and it looks like you have your high beams on.

Well of course it's more light with low beams/fogs, you want it that way when it's foggy officer, ( DUH!! I thought) ,,,,,,,Sheezzz . I guess people are seeing four lights thinking two are low beams and two are high beams???? I mean the lights aim low , not high in peoples eyes .

Yep, I've had that happen. Not the pull-over but the chorus of high-beaming citizenry. You may have found the only motorcop who is not a gearhead. Most traffic cops know cars and would know the difference between fog lights and high-beam headlights. One nearly blinds you and one doesn't.

you can adjust the fogs down a little bit and that will help with others being blinded.

the mustangs Ive seen oncoming at night gave zero glare from the fogs- they have a low/wide pattern that only projects out forward about 40 feet or so- but also about 10 feet to the sides of the road...i use mine a lot on the backroads around home as you can see critters along the roadside much better than with just headlights- probably saved a possom or three, not to mention bumper damage I do think ford could have used yellow bulbs in the fogs- woulda eliminated confusion

the higher vehicles with the projector lensed lights are the ones that irk me- even the low beams are blinding if youre in a car.

Did Runfox have them adjusted "up" to begin with? I've encountered
GT's with fog lights on while in a car and on a motorcycle during the day and at night and I've never been blinded by the fogs.

Its possible that the fogs are aimed a little higher than normal. I would just adjust them down a few inches and this would solve the problem. Once I added my center-fog grill, I lowered them a small amount and no more flashing from oncoming drivers.

That said, I did have a run-in with a state trooper while driving my car at night. I was driving down the local 2-lane highway when I passed a state cop watching for expired inspection stickers (he was parked on the flat median. When I went by, he came back into the road, and pulled up next to me at the next light. While he didn't flash his lights at me, he did ask if I had a switch for my foglamps (I ALWAYS have them on, as the center fog grill is SWEET). I played dumb, and said the lights came that way. He asked again and I repeated myself. He left me alone. Sorry buddy, I an NOT turning them off!!!

Never had a problem with the police, but I get people flicking their lights at me. And I have the Pony edition with the small fog lights. I think that it is simply a matter of someone sees 4 lights across the front and assumes that the high beams are on.

Having more light to help you evade the oncoming driver you are blinding? That sure makes a lot of sense!

The current Mustang GT, along with its previous gen, the '03 - '04 Mach 1's and Cobras, and the '07 - '09 GT500s' fog lamps only improve visibility a few feet. Driving with the fog lamps on at 15 MPH one perhaps can avoid a road kill, at 50 MPH it is road sushi.

If more lighting is required to maintain good vision and safe driving the high beams provide more adequate and much better lighting than the combination of head lights and fog lamps.

I've been flashed at. Of course at that point I turn on my hi beams and let them know what bright is.

Ok so exactly how do I adjust my fog lights down a little? I didnt know there was any adjustment on fog lights.

And while the low beam/fog lights may seam bright to oncoming cars, they are aiming low and I dont see how they are any worse than some of the BMW/Mercedes/Lexus HID blue lights blinding me 1 Bullit. I agree with JimC I think people see what looks like four headlights, and assume two of them must be high beams because they are all four about the same size and about as bright.

Its weird, I have had my car for a year and never got flashed until 2 months ago where in a 3 week time period, I had someone almost every night flash me. For the past few weeks though, no one has done it again, I don't get it.

I see the four lights, and roll down the window to hear the exhaust as it goes by

as for the running with the lights on at a higher speed, In my Grand Cherokee (which the headlights blow) I'll be putting on some fogs to give a little bit more side light, as my lights now might slightly light up about 10* off straight ahead, and that could help avoid deer.

I live out in the country and I get pulled over at least a dozen times every year from police thinking I have my highbeams on. I think they do it just to talk to me about the car.

That's funny, I do the same. Mustangs simply sound awesome. It compares to how a Harley's sound cannot be duplicated by any other bike.

I always run with the fogs on and I don't think I've ever had that happen.

Hey bud, you first remove the radiator cover. Then, look down where the foglamp housings are. There is a small screw ontop (I believe its a phillips-head). You turn it one way to raise the light path, turn the other way to lower it. The best way to adjust them, is to park the car infront of either a clean white wall with nothing on it (no pictures), and put a long piece of tape across it. That will be your starting line. Then you adjust them from there.

The way I did it, was a bit simpler. I went to my local Pep Boys, when they were closed. I pulled my car up to the front window and shined the foglamps in the window. While sitting in the car I can see if they are too high/too low, or uneven. Then, I get out and just adjust them till they look better for oncoming traffic.
