Thinking about a newer car

I've been looking at autotrader all night. I'm thinking of getting a newer car. 05 to 11. Reason for the 11 is the 5.0 Definitely want a gt with a stick. What year would you go with?

Well what body style do you like better? What's your price range? Obviously an 05-09 gt will be a good bit cheaper than a 5.0. I absolutely love my 08 gt but I'd love a 13 gt. But they're so pricey now.

I actually like the 05-09 body better. But like the 5.0 motor

Yeah that's tough. Get the 05-09 for a good price and than put a supercharger on it. Youd have the money because the 05-09 will be a lot cheaper and with the supercharger on it, you'll be running with the 5.0s. So you'd have that power. Another option is look for a 05-09 gt500. Now there's an option. Be around the same price as that new 5.0. Maybe a bit more but then you'd have a gt500. Which you can then mod to be even faster.

I have a 12. I prefer the 10-12 look over the 13-14. The 13 was put when I bought my car. I prefer the 12 because of the adjustable steering. It made a big difference in feel of the car for me. That I know of, that's really the only difference between 11 and 12.

The 13 is hot because of track pack option and the Recaro seat option. Adding those to a 11-12 is freakishly expensive. Those options made me consider the 13 but the front looked like a catfish to me and I preferred the dome in the hood of the 12 better.

These photos are from this site in the race red section. You can see the differences between a 10-12 and a 13-14

I wish you could order custom cars just like you can with custom guitars. I think a lot of us would want the 05-09 body style with the 5.0 engine and the upgraded interior look from the 10+ models.

100% agree. That's my problem. It sucks to know that the 11 v6 has more hp that the 05-09 gt

The 69 mustang fastback has always been my favorite body. The 05-09 look so much like it

it has more but with ~$500(cai, and tune) you'll exceed that v6. Not to mention despite it having a little more horsepower, the STOCK 05-09 gt is still faster and putting down more torque. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'd actually like to see that race.

Yeah, but it's still a V6 Mustang. Not bashing the V6, but I really don't care that the new V6's have more power than the 05-09 GT's, it's just not the same IMO. I've driven the new 5.0's and they are incredible, but for daily use a 300HP 05-09 GT is more than adequate.

The v6 has more power but remember it has to rev past 6k to achieve it. The GT has a better power band that's why it's a little bit faster then the v6. Lol all of 15hp isn't going to give you a huge advantage when stock for stock they make about the same to the wheels but one has a better power band and makes power sooner.

2011's steering adjusts when using 'sport mode' -

With my 2011 I miss having the garagelink + adjustable headrests but I'm just happy to own a 5.0...

OP if you want advice, get the newest Mustang you can afford. At this stage in the game Ford is on a roll w/ their pony car and every year they seem to get better and better which really wasn't the case 10 years ago.

Exactly what mrp5150 said. Want the 05-09 body with the 5.0 and the nicer interior. I'm keeping my '05 to mod the way I want it. I can love certain aspects about the new ones, but the outside still doesn't measure up for me. Could always wrap everything in leather over time and have a custom interior that blows them all away

What I think I'm going to do is, find a 07-09 and after I get it paid off do a 5.0 boss swap. Best of both worlds and still probably cheaper

You should find a 2005-2009 roush or Saleen that comes with a factory SC

I underlined that part of the quote because it is 'spot on' accurate for me as well. I know when I use 2nd gear on my 5 speed that it is the really fast acceleration gear that I can use in most real world driving situations. No lag at all and very quick for almost all situations, from 20 mph and up to 'red line' if necessary. Sure, a 5.0L would be very cool but I really wonder how much I personally would need those extra 100+ ponies. Everyone has different needs but for many of us the 300 HP is quite adequate. That exhaust note is just perfection as well. Good luck with your search!!

I went back and forth for 6 months. I was set on an 11-13 and drove the 5.0 and the V6. The V6 premium was nice and quick with the 3.31 gear, the 5.0 was awesome. I know myself I would regret the V6 if I bought one, even though it was impressive. I started looking at 05-10 GT's and saving some of them in my autotrader fav's. I did come across some roush and saleen supercharged with under 30K priced real good.
I ended up going to test drive the 07 GT loaded with 7000 miles, had no intention of buying. I definetly noticed the torque and low end acceleration being better than the 11-12 V6. I got a steal and drove it home for under 20K. It's like new and will be a great daily driver. Keep the options open. I'm very happy with my new ride, I've had it for 3 weeks now. Picked up a C&L CAI yesterday and shopping a Brenspeed tune!
I ended up spending over 5K less than I planned on and my wife is happy. I ended up with an awesome ride LOADED, the shaker 1000 rocks.
