Here're some thoughts on what Ford should come out with regarding both regular and special models. Models such as the V6, V6 Pony, GT, GTS & Cobra should be regular models (although the GTS is still iffy, and even the Cobra as well according to some ;-)). The Mach & Boss models would be special edition models, made for 1 or 2 years at a time (do I even need to say that there will be no special editions made in 2005? I hope not...), and then rotated. For example, a Boss 302 coming into play in mid-2006, while concluding around mid-2007 (where the next special edition would come in) (scroll down to the bottom). Other than stripes, I haven't figured out what to do with any Shelby Models as the Boss & Cobra models pretty much cover all the bases.

There's no way a 429 is going for anywhere in the 30k's.

Great!! But the Boss cars should have bigger tires than 255's.

I don't get he whole V-10 thing. If people are just stuck on n/a fine by me, but a supercharged or twin-turbo 5.4L would be cheaper to make and without doubt more powerful given the same development costs. And, you simply cannot get the same kind of torque out of a n/a motor that you can out of a blwn one from a production standpoint. Blown small-blocks are the new big-blocks.

That GTS sounds cool, but they should strip the luxuries (keep the IRS) and sell it for less than the GT, like the SN95 GTS

Why doesnt the "drag tuned" BOSS 429 have a 4.10 or at least 3.73 rear axle?

No way on a 429ci job from Ford on any low production car, at least at affordable prices. They wouldn't even give the Ford Gt an engine that size. The Z06 is going to get a 427 and look how much they are going to want for it. 75K!

Would be nice, but your prices sound waaaaay low for the equipment involved. The most obvious being a 7.0L V-10 for $38k? If only.....

I really like the idea of two similarly prices GT level models -- one with the SRA and one IRS though. Call it a Boss 281 and I am there. Then bring out the Boss 329 with the 5.4 in it. For cost reasons, I think all Mustang motors will be either 4.6 or 5.4 for now. But that is fine with me.

I dont see a problem producing a relatively cheap 429 cid V10. Especially in 3v SOHC format.

Look at the Z06 vette, 6 piston calipers, aluminum frame, titanium intake valves and connecting rods. All big ticket items that cost big bucks.

A 7 lirer V10 with a sensible redline using a forged crank and rods with steel valves will be far cheaper. I bet for the cost of 1 of the Z06 valves you could put three hollow stainless steel valves in a 3v head.

The exotic materials used in the LS7 are there becuase they are using a big inch stroker and probably a pretty wild cam for regular no fail 100k mile engine duty.

Sounds great but you aren't ever going to see 470-500 hp S.E. Mustangs for 35-40k...be a nice dream though....

There is also no way that you will see more than 2 SEs per year. And they wont change them every year.

Still a smok'n deal considering the level of performance your getting. Car is butt ugly but goes like stink.

I could see a V10 car in the 30's, but a coupla thngs would have to happen like 3v V10s, not that I keep up with the V10 engines, but I think they are still 2v engines? Hardest part would be the electronics and crash certification I think.

Then you gotta have the parts laying around to suport it like a good tranny and rear end, which I guess they would have covered with the M6 from the cobra and the 8.8 is probably plenty stout with 31 spline axles as long as you dont put on full slicks soaked in track bite on a strip laid down with super glue.

Although you ultimately have Ford setting the price at whatever they think the car would fetch and the inevitable dealer market adjustment charges

Which I'm sure a BOSS 429 would command.

GAWD I wish I could fall into 1.21 gigawatts of cash. Would be an interesting tuner car, but on that scale I'm sure it would add some BIG cost.

I dont see Ford casting aluminum tall deck V10 blocks in the future although I can see the 3v stuff happening.

I bet a N/A 3v V10 would still be lighter than the S/C 4v 4.6 used in the cobras. So handling with a V10 wouldn't be a major factor. Engine would be simple too. No need for intake runner controls or variable cam timing, just the brute force provided by some well tuned 429 cubic inches. Although this variable cam timing would be of some benefit, just not nessecary. In a basic GT style tune you'd be looking at 460 hp and Muhahahahahahaha!!!! 490 ft/lbs of torque.

They could have a 5th wheel option instead of a trunk for this puppy, err pony.

Okay back to reality....
