Two weeks ago I called customer service. After giving me the run around about the status, they finally told me an ETA of 11/8. Last week the dealer was still showing a build week of 11/1, so I figured at least 3 more weeks. Just for the heck of it, I called my salesman tonight for a status check. I almost fell out of my chair when he said that my car would be in tomorrow morning...

With all the delivery problems, I'm wondering how he can be so sure of tomorrow morning? Unless it is already there and they are using it as a last minute demo...

I guess I'll find out tomorrow if it is really here...
The first thing I will look at is the odometer... :nono:

Hey, I like that GT logo you've got by your name. I saw that on the concept car. Does anyone know where I can get that as an emblem or decal? I like it better than the GT logo that comes with the 05's. Thanks!

Congrats on your car, check the odometer. I've heard them coming with as many as 25miles on it right off the truck. Not sure how that happens.

Good Luck!

Did you read the original post at all?

mine had about 40 miles, and noone at the dealership drove it.

Anyway, my guy was absolutely sure it would come one day and there was no confirmation from ford and the eta didn't say that day. It did come so it is very possible!

I highly doubt that ford put 40 miles on your car. from what i have been reading ford will put a sticker that certifies the mileage on the vehicle, and it is usually 25 miles. the person that bought his car with 40 miles, I have some bad news for you: they lied to you like they did to me when I was going to buy my stang. i ordered my GT and it had 60 miles on it, and they never called me when it came in. so they made this story up that it just showed up with 60 miles from the factory. BS. I took my business elsewhere. I bought my 01 GT with 4 miles on it --from the factory. These people at the dealerships lie their butts off. Especially with a all-new model, they may want to use it as a demo until you take delivery. Am I being cynical? No, just realistic. thanks.

From what I have been reading, they're randomly pulling cars as they come off the line for quality testing. I guess they take them for a short drive (up to 25 miles or so is average I guess) and make sure there's no problems. If there is, I'm guessing that's when they have the quality holds that take place. Otherwise, they wouldn't know about the problems until you got the car home and had to bring it back to the dealership to get it looked at.

They did not lie to me. They wouldn't even let people touch it until I went there. I don't know why there is 40, but I am sure they didn't take it joyriding. I know they went to the gas station though which I thought was close.

Yes I read the original post. It was about wondering if the dealership was using his car as a demo and the poster said the first thing he would look at was the odometer. I mentioned that the most I've hear of is 25 miles from the factory. (relevant) I used to work as a Ford car salesman and that is consistant with the cars I checked in as they came off of the truck.
I also noticed the pic next to his name and mentioned that I liked it... sorry to stray off topic.

I was there when mine came off the truck. Bright and early before the dealership opened. I could not resist to check the mileage, so I turned the key. My car had 86 miles on it, and no QC sticker. Hmmmm..

I bought my 01 gt with 8.8 miles on it (after my 3 mile test drive). 40 (or worse 86 eeek) is just way too many miles.

Mine came in this afternoon - I drove it with 2.2 miles on it.
It will get one or two more tomorrow as part of pre-delivery prep.
I won't be happy if there is much more.

I look at it like this - you have got to trust the guy checking out your car to an extent. It's their job to make sure that you are satisfied with it and if they abuse it, they're done.

Well, as for the mystery miles...

If the car does not have a QC sticker and the dealer swears that no one did more than get a full tank of gas, lets not forget the little trips from the AAI holding area to the truck/trains, from the trains to trucks and all the moving in between... just my thoughts...

I was on my way to work. I normally travel right by the dealership and spotted it. It was great fun. I got to meet the truck driver, and flipped him out since I was able to tell him what the VIN number was without looking at the car. After that he was convinced that I ordered the car, and he did not mind me checking it out.

Quick Reply: Are they using my car for a demo?
