Is there a trunk release?
#22
yeah, the yellow handle
1. turn around in your seat
2. pull down the back seat
3. find the glow in the dark handle, and pull
4. you have operated the remote trunk release feature
5. pat yourself on the back, and get out, walk to the trunk, and realize you could have just opened it with a simple key instead of complaining about it forever on Brad's forums

Let me get this straight because there seems to be a problem understanding on some people's part. :bang:
SO you're saying that there is NO TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON in the cockpit of the 05 Mustang?
The ONLY 3 ways to open the trunk is by:
1) Using the trunk key to open the lock when you're outside the car.
2) Using the trunk release button on the FOB.
3)While inside the car, pull down the rear seat and turn the emergency trunk release latch.

Where my dad's trunk release button is on the left side of the inside of the glove box. big yellow button that says Trunk Release. But that's odd they don't have a button in the cockpit. Isn't it required?

Doh! That's it! I'm not getting an '05 Mustang! Maybe an '06 when they put it in!
Or order an extra remote and velcro it in the glove box....

I'm hoping that you're joking. That would the dumbest reason I've heard not to get an 05 mustang just because there wasn't a button in the cockpit for a trunk release.

The extra remote ain't a bad idea, though...think I'll include that. Get 2 sets of keys and 3 remotes.

That site is hilarious. I first saw it on Ebaumsworld.
I wonder what MSRP is on the Trunk Monkey? I did not see it in the build sheet or options catalog. Is it a dealer installed option? Does it reduce insurance premiums?

Those that said there is none...are correct.
Its on the FOB thats the only remote release.
And in this years iteration, can be use while the car is under a certain speed.....unlike the last generation, which wouldn't work if the key was in the ignition/on.
Its not in the glove box, its not hidden.
Keep looking though

I hope that you are correct, booomer, the key fob will release the trunk when you are stopped.
Anyone who has taken delivery of their 05, how about confirming this?

I dont think I ever used the glovebox remote once they went on fobs. The only time I ever use them now is durring sales demonstrations because there is no fob in the keybox.

I use the glove box trunk release frequently enough now that I know I'd miss it in the '05. Sometime keys aren't just handy when you're doing some things.
Yup...definately going with 3rd fob and velcro.

Guys, for crying out loud...how is leaning over and finding the button in a glove box easier than hitting the trunk release on the FOB.
Making something outta nothing.
Want a trunk release?
Tie a rope to the release handle in the trunk, route it through the back seat and yank....done...
Move on.
The question was answered.
Does it have one...
No, its on the FOB.
End of story.

The big deal is that you drive the wife to the store and drop her off. She comes out and you drive up to the door to pick her up. You lean over and pop the tunk, because the key fob won't pop the trunk if the engine is running.
So it all depends. If the '05 lets you pop the trunk while the engine is running, it's not that big a deal. If you have to shut the engine off to pop the trunk for the OL, than its a royal PITA.

As long as you can pop the tunk with the key fob while the engine is running it's not a big deal.

Which it does.
States that you can open it as long as the car is under 5mph or something.
