I've had my car for 3 months and I just realized there is a power plug in the center console box. I don't know why I just found it, but it's good news for me. Now I can stick my iPod FM transmitter in there and get rid of that awful sight of the wire I had to plug into my dash.

We wanted you to be clueless. BTW, you should get a head unit that supports an ipod interface cable. Or at least a head unit with auxiliary connections. FM transmitting is horrible=)

I am planning on a new system to be put in my car with a double din tv and JL audio products. The iPod interface cable is also on that list.

There is also a place to hold things on the bottom of the center console lid

Yeah, I think the center console would be really a good place for a Ipod

So do you know you can at least remove the rubber insert in the cup holder to hold bigger cups. I find that the manual is my best friend

Does anybody's get extremely HOT while in use? I use mine for my car cell charger. I usually leave the console open so it won't get so hot in there while charging my phone.

Carol inside the console theres a small cover for a plastic door that can be pulled off with your fingers (its that angled up piece on the drivers side) .it might help move the air through the console and not build up in the closed console box,if you want give that a try and see if it helps .

I use an IPOD FM transmitter and have no problems. I can choose among 10 different FM stations to set mine to. I don't remember which one I have but if anyone is interested just PM me and I'll look to see which one it is when I get home tongiht and get back to you.

Haven't seen that one before. Looks really cool. I have one similiar to that for my home use when I want to play my ipod through my home stereo (but that one looks better). The one I have in my car plugs into the power socket so it charges my ipod while I use it.. ipod battery life :notnice:

which ipod do you have? I have the 2nd generation 20 gig and i put in a battery from this company
http://www.newertech.com/ipod

it's good for 21 hours. In real life use i've gone 1 to 2 weeks without having to charge my battery, they also have replacement batteries for later generations.

worth looking into if your battery is starting to fizzle out. It was easy to change for the 2nd gen also

I have the FM transmitter from Griffin Technologies. I like it, the sound is ok, and I like being able to use it in the car, or other people's houses, etc. I really do want to get a direct line set up for the new mustang though. I haven't found the right thing yet. Anyone know anything about the SiK imp?

you still need an fm transmitter with this, one is not built in.
this has a charger and line out, but with the shaker 500/1000 there is no solution yet for ipod input except by fm transmitter

it doesn't look like it's compatible with the itrip which is what i assume you have.

I put my XM MyFi in the console and it's nice to have that power plug in there. Keeps everything out of sight, and I haven't noticed it getting too hot either.
