Well, I stopped by my dealer to check on my 05 order and I see they just took in a 2003 Mach 1. Azure Blue with a 5 spd. Only 7,100 miles.

I could not resist. Took it for a test drive. Incredible torque. And the Shaker scoop that sits prominently atop the hood made my knees weak.

For just a second, I actually considered it. They were asking $22,900 but said I could have it for $21,700. I guess they stickered for almost 30K.

But I came to my senses.

I am sticking with the 05...

You should be able to buy that car for less than that. Which dealer is it? I live about 40 minutes north of Indy.

Inskeep in Greenfield. I did not try to bargain with them - since they just took it in on Friday, it is hard to say how much they would have given...

I haven't personally driven a Mach, although I did have a '97 Cobra and I believe they run similarly. I still say the '05 GT runs as strong as they do. Combine that fact with the old tech structural, ergonomics and looks and it's a no brainer.

I agree - but as I was running through the gears, I have to admit - it was still a little tempting...

Hey, I hear ya, they are great running cars. Temptation must've been great especially while waiting for the '05. I hate to see everyone having to wait.

I. too, have been tempted. The Mach is a fine car. I am still just watching you guys getting your GTs while I wait for the Cobra. It stinks. It'll pay off in the long run, but, it really stinks right now.

It is sort of strange - it really has not sunk in yet. This will be my first new car. I am certainly excited about it, but the wait hasn't gotten to me so far.

I am sure that will change as the warmer weather approaches.

I guess the Mach test drive was just an appetizer...

Thank you for not making me take a metal folding chair to your head. That would not have been a good choice by any means. Congrats on making the right decision, and saving your skull.

The last Mustang I drove was my '69 Mach 1. I did get to test drive an 05 GT last fall, but other than that, I had nothing to compare anything to. So when I saw the 03 Mach on the lot, I figured I had better take it for a quick ride and see what it was like.

Oh, and folding chairs to the head don't hurt as much as the whole table.

ok they run nothing like a 97 cobra and are at least a half second or more faster in stock trim and whats wrong with a mach.... why wouldn't it have been a good choice... I have drive both stick and auto gt sorry I don't see your reasoning.

The Machs are wonderful cars but this one is overpriced. I also would not trade my GT for one BUT, in the long run I believe they will be worth more than our 05 GTs. We are talking a good 10 years or so but low production, high performance and unique features make the 03 - 04 Machs a certain future collectable.

Wow that must have been a high mileage mach... You should expect to pay about 18-19 k for a low mileage mach like that.

I was in your position about 4 months ago. I went to a local dealership , and considered the 04 Compitition Orange Mach 1 w/ leather. Brand new....man was it nice.I weighed all the options, and I am glad I waited for my '05............

It is a nice ride.............I dont think you can go wrong, but dont have any regrets either............about your decision ......GOOD LUCK!!

For 22K? Nah. For 15K I too would have been tempted. In fact, when I was getting deathly ill with the wait (on my 05) last October (I ordered in May!), I half considered transferring my deposit and driving home in an '04 Cobra for 26.5K. There's alot to be said for 400hp and enough torque to pull a house. That said, waiting was the right move, and when my car showed up a week later, I couldn't believe I had considered letting it go. :bang:
