Tell Me It's Not Just BS!

Quick history: I was signed up for the Pony Drive for months, told not to order until Ford worked out the X-plan thing and logistics. February 28th, Ford said "Nevermind", and backed out of the whole deal. :bang: March 1st, my dealer was so shocked at Ford's backing out that they offered me an X-plan PIN on a GT order anyway! I placed my order immediately. Copy of DORA was given to me two days later.
Now: No word at all on my order. I know, only one month, stop whining. However, they are telling me that they definately know that my car will NOT be built in April or May. My dealer told me that Ford originally intended to stop producing '05 GTs in May (huh?!) but they now are going to continue GT production into June. (That was supposed to be my GOOD news.) They say that my car will either be built in June, or the order will be "kicked", and I'll have to come in to re-order an '06. They then tell me that they won't know which one it will be until....JUNE!
My dealer is a small one. They have only sold one GT coupe, and one convertible for '05. They say that my order is the only GT order they have. Period.
Is this BS? If not, why can't Ford deliver? If it weren't for the yet-to-be-realized X-plan, I'd be headed for another dealer, but they say that '05 GT orders are closed. Advice anyone? Buying this car really shouldn't be this hard.

Orders arent closed. I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he still has allocation and orders are not closing until late summer as someone on here has stated a few times. I think the crappy part about all of this is it seems some dealers with no allocation are telling people Ford is doing this or doing that when it isnt Ford it is the small dealers crappy allocation. Crap like this is why no one trusts a call salesman.

Personally I would use fordvehicles.com and try and find some GTs at dealers around you either exactly or similar to what you ordered. It' s not looking good for recent orders from all the press.

Yeah, I think Dealers are just running out of allocations is all. Even mine here in North Texas has stopped offering X-plan since they have almost run their allocations for the year. And their the biggest volume Dealer around here!

I think it is past the dealer allocations. Some regions are not getting enough cars from Ford to cover the allocations of the dealers in that region. It seems that the larger southern dealers get all they want while others get nothing.

Do what I did. I ordered Jan 24th and a week ago after still being C/U with no sign of a build date, I gave up and just bought one off the lot. If you did that you would be able to enjoy it through out the summer.
I never understood why the order was so important for some. I ordered a manual trans which was difficult to find in my area. But if I wanted an automatic I wouldn't have even bothered with ordering. I understand that some people want to get the exact car they want but if it's important to be able to drive it this summer you best bet is to forget it and find one on a lot.

I live in the St. Louis area. As far as I know, there are no GTs sitting on lots. To date, I have seen only one GT at a dealership, period, and that one was sold. I would be willing to travel to get a deal, but from what I am reading on this site, things aren't much better elsewhere. I search online for dealer inventory, but when I find a GT and contact the dealer, it's not really there. I am also kinda holding out for that hope of an X-plan that my dealer promised me. He may honor that offer for an '06, who knows. I just can't believe that this is so difficult. We aren't talking a limited production car, here, are we?
