I'm wanting an '05 GT Sonic Blue w/ Blue Leather which will probably cost around $25k. Just a guess.

About how much would the tag/title/tax be?

Please give me an idea on how much the tax would be. Thanks.

NH has no sales tax

That's like a free leather and 18" chrome wheel upgrade for a GT

It depends on the state. Some have the same sales tax rate on cars, others have a reduced rate for cars. Some have an excise tax on cars. Some states charge tax on the sale price of the car whether you are or or not trading in a car. Other states only charge you sales tax on the difference in price between the new car and the trade in.

Thanks V10.

OKLAHOMA 4.5

So ... About how much would that be?

A friend from school told me when you buy a car that the tax is added to the total price of the car. And you just pay it off every month.

I thought when you buy a car you had a month to pay off the tax.

Who is right?

Tax is added to the total sale price. It is up to you to pay it then or finance it into the loan. Excise tax is to be paid within one month when you title/plate the car (in Indiana anyway)

depends on the state. Some have none, some have a bunch. In Indiana, the lottery helps pay some of the excise tax. in '98 I had a new Expedition. The excise tax was about $650. A couple years later the lottery got involved and it cut the tax in half. My Z71 is about $200.

In BC Canada here, we have a 7% GST (General sales tax) that applies to all of canada but not food and select other things as well as a 7.5% PST (Provincial sales tax) that applies, again, to all but food and select other things. So on cars here it's 14.5% taxes!! I think I may go to Alberta to buy a new car whenever I do. Sheesh.

My bad on the tax name. I'm only 19 and just filing my first tax return this year. As for your taxes, holy crap. Go to one of the maritime provinces or something to buy yours, one with out sales taxes. Yipes.
