Me: Are the rumors about SVT being dropped true?

SVT rep: NO, it was a rumor that popped up over the weekend from a post over on Modularfords.com. We are not planning on closing our doors and all engineering effort has been focused on the next generation Cobra. Even though it is a rumor, we do appreciate the faxes, e-mails, written letters, and calls of support that everyone has given us. We are reading everyone that is sent to us and where possible we are replying (with a standard format letter/email) to those people.

I would say no, but I don't know for sure, they have competition now with the new Ram out, they have to keep it going.

The Lightning is "postponed". As he said all efforts are being put toward the Cobra. Hopefully that means a late 2005 appearance.

100 bucks says its the 6.2 hurricane thats slowing it down. The 5.4 is going bye-bye.

You know, I've been saying that that motor would show up in 2007 for Ford trucks. Some believed me, some didn't. And just wait until a version of it shows up in Mustangs...you heard it from me!

That was my thought exactly! They're concentrating all resources on the Cobra now and then will concentrate on the Lightning once the Hurricane is available for development.

A very expensive 450hp rated 5.4 selling along side a very inexpensive 3v 6.2 with 400hp does not sound very exciting. therefore no L untill SVT has time to rework the finalized hurricane motor. That means most likely other upgrades like the tranny.

you florida boys should complain about the "hurricane" engine

Glad to see SVT will soldier on, good thing that they are putting an all-out effort on the Mustang Cobra. Despite the sucess of the '03-04 Cobra there were still some engines with "the tick". Likewise, they should never repeat the '99 Cobra debacle.

This is very good news indeed. It didn't make sense that Ford would drop SVT while dodge has their hemis and Chevy has their SS's. Thanks Brad B)
