I've been considering putting one in my 2000, but never really made up my mind.

What I would kill for is an 05 with t-tops....now THAT is the best of both worlds..
IMO the real best of both worlds in a convertible hardtop ala SL500, SC430..... But as far as the new stang is concerned, I'll have to agree with the other guys - the sunroofs that extract over the roof look cheap.

There is one other downside to the aftermarket sunroofs some people may want to take into consideration. Many of the aftermarket sunroofs do not allow for a slide-away headliner to block out the sun when you park your car. This can be a major headache in warm climates such as AZ where I'm at. 107 and sunny outside, a big window in your roof = HOT HOT HOT car and seats when you return. :notnice:

I thought about putting a heavy, dark 99% reflective sunblock on a pop-up...

The glass would have to be stored in the trunk similar to older RX7s
Strapped down in trunk with Velcro...

Looking at the dual contoured 20" x 32" (but its not on the 22" x 38")

Don't even know if the 22"x38" will fit in the trunk????

I'll have to try it before they cut that big of hole above my head...

Wolfie351, I totally agree with you. Sunroofs give you the best of both worlds, not increasing weight much while maintaining the structural integrity of a coupe. Unfortunately, it has to be a cost cutting measure that the 05 does not include it. However, I would expect a 27000 car to come with it, and it stinks that there isn't even an option.
screw sunroofs. lets go with a custom targa top thats the thing i liked about that grey XMP car was they cut out the roof. dont want to hack up a brand new car. but that would be an option i would like to see since t-tops nor sunroofs wont look right

Ford doesn't offer sunroofs on Mustangs for one main reason:

It cuts into 'vert sales. Period.

Maybe Foose will haul my car away for the "Over-haulin" TV show and put a Targa Top on it.....ya right. That is like FORD giving us prices. I guess I dream alot.

Anyway, I had a Sunroof on my 1990 LX (don't laugh, it was a 5.0l, 5 spd standard.) I would never get another stang with a sunroof. They just don't look right and the pop-up style ones are pointless. They just let more heat into the car. Hot leather seats is not a good thing in the summer for my hiney!

So you're telling me due to "roofline contours" you can't get a sunroof in a mustang,

yet you can get one in this car?:

Hmmm...Interesting theory.

Does the Infiniti's sunroof recede into the roof or on top?

I don't know why Ford doesn't put it in there, they haven't offered sunroofs in 10+ years.

IMHO, I think you can only get a sunroof on the new stang if it was available from factory due to the curve in the roof. You gotta remember that factory sunroofs are NOT the same as aftermarket. Unless a manufacturer designs a pop-up sunroof to fit the new stang you are out of luck.

I had one on my 95 mustang, but I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you eventually want water seeping in while washing and annoying road noise. That's my opinion.

No navigation, no heated seats, no heated mirrors, no engine cover, is one thing. Maybe they aren't expected to be big ticket items. But no sunroof is another. Thats just cheapy to not even offer it. I don't want a convertible. They are too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter. When do you even get to use them comfortably? (70-80 deg and 0 humidity), maybe 4 months out of the year? They are heavier, and less rigid, so there goes the whole POINT of having a performance car. Nah, I'd much rather take my chances with a sunroof leaking in 5 years, than deal with a convertible.

I would probably use a convertible 10 months out of a year, I am not planning on racing it, it will be my daily driver, so the added weight is not a big deal to me.

I'd consider a sunroof option if Ford offered it. I love the one on my '86.

The C6 vert only weighs 14 lbs more than the coupe, I believe.

Here in Florida, you can use a vert 49 weeks out of the year. Our winter lasts about 3 weeks.
