Stupid PCM question

I want to disconnect the battery to reset the KAM for 15 min (it says 2 min in the sevice manual) since I have not done it since new and the car is making some weird noises periodically.

Why do I have to do all of this goofy stuff (let it idle for 15 min with the A/C on-off, accelerate to 30 - stop - accelerate to 40 - stop etc.)?

I don't think some tech did all of this stuff before I bought it or is that part of the predelivery routine?

Will the PCM relearn all of these things over time like it did when new? I realize that the car may act strange in certain situations but I don't remember it doing goofy stuff when I brought it home

Maybe I don't get it.

Thanks

I usually do the 10min-10min idle thing when I reset my battery. Normal driving should do the rest...

You don't have to do that stuff, only if you want it to learn faster. Disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting resets it. Drive normally and the PCM will see the various situations and learn them.

If you have a custom tune, does this relearning process need to be done....and if so, is there a different way to do it?
