Yes, it uses 4 bolts in pre-drilled holes. Looks like a $5 piece of thin pipe flattened and drilled. I put the G-trac bar in today and it makes a big difference in front end stiffness. From what I understand its cheaper then the factory part. Photo of the stock part on this page from the new strut tower TSB thread. The steeda(and CHE) one mounts directly to the k-member using two of the bolts that hold the a-arm rear bushing in place, so its in THE perfect place to add support-but the stock version should help too.

There are no TSB's for convertibles probably for this reason. I'm surprised they skipped on what is obviously a sub-$10 part on the coupes, but now have to fix a bunch of pre-07's for a bit more then that.....

Kevin: Interesting. So the official term for that OEM part is a G-trac bar? How much does the OEM part cost and is there any reason to buy aftermarket? I suppose I can just go and pick up 4 stainless bolts and nuts to bolt the OEM piece onto my 07. I'll read up on your linked thread later. I'm interested in installing it only if it is a pure bolt-on piece.

Well the factory part is a K-member brace bar, don't know # or price. The G-trac is the Steeda name for one and also uses factory holes, as does the K-brace from CHE. I gave a ton of details in the warranty thread.

Thank You!! Kevin, for all the info on this, I just purchased the Steeda Bar. I can't wait to see what kind of difference it will make. I don't know why, like you said, they did not add this small item to really make it a better handling car.

Well they DID add it to very late 07's and all 08's. Its one of those things that is hard to quantify. Its very subtle in how much hit helps until you drive over very familliar roads a few times. I noticed it immediately, even independent of what the new tower caps had fixed too, you really can't explain the difference, even if it were to someone who had ridden shotgun in your car every single mile. I've spent a ton of time in modded mustangs, if you pay attention you can actually feel the lower control arms doing the work instead of the k-member flexing out over every undulation that tiny bit.

Well I ran into several alignment issues with the axle-backs, so I somewhat wish I stayed with the stock mufflers. Since the 08-up Stangs all have that G-trac bar, it's not really a modification for 05-07 Stangs but more of a retrofit.

I managed to get a Granatelli STB and while there are lots of negative comments about their other parts, the STB clares the plenum and doesn't rub the hood. It's not terribly expensive and really changed the handling characteristics of my vert. My .02.

Does the G-trac and STB affect ride quality?
